"most comprehensive free internet security package"

    January 10, 2013  |   By sayoles

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

Has a solid offering of internet security: firewall, anti-virus, anti-worms/etc, sandboxing. I probably haven't even gotten into all that the software has to offer, but of the little tech jargon that I do understand, I think I was relatively okay in getting it all set up on my own.

    Cons

The security DNS option was a bit confusing at first - I eventually opted NOT to take this as I was informed by my trusted tech-savvy friend that, long story short, it wasn't necessary for the basic internet usage. I typically don't venture to so many new and mysterious websites, and am also good about not clicking on links that I don't know or trust offhand. He also had me later uninstall the geekbuddy and the dragon browsers, just to save some precious space on my tiny hard drive. Otherwise, I suppose it's fine to just leave it on. But if your hankering for extra hard disk space, just delete delete delete!

    Summary

I do wish CNET would be a bit more organized about the way they categorize the various software offerings. To rate down a FREE product compared to a PAID product is like calling tomatoes a bad fruit because they don't taste like oranges. Maybe that made no sense whatsoever, but my point being: I certainly hope that paid products offer more than free products! However, this is what we've got to work with at the moment, and it's all part of the information overload sorting game, eh? Given that the free version of Comodo Internet Security requires no exchange of money up front, it's a great product.

    "Used by professionals- Brilliant protection"

    January 5, 2013  |   By MortanoTech

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

-Antivirus, Firewall, Sandbox,+Defense & Much, MUCH more!
    -Very low system resource usage.
-Loads of free tools to protect, speed up and secure your computer, files, folders and wireless internet connection.
    -Beautiful Layout.
-Professional support through "GeekBuddy" and telephone customer support.
-Probably one of the best software for detection and prevention of every threat available.
-comes with the option of its own super safe browsers! Improved versions of Google Chrome (Comodo Dragon) and Firefox (IceDragon). If not included in the install, these can be easily installed via their website.

    Cons

    -Tricky for beginners
    -Several false positives
-"GeekBuddy" not always helpful. (attempts to get you to buy the full product)
-default settings are not as secure as they can be if you give the product settings a few tweeks here and there.

    Summary

I use Comodo Internet Security and I am very happy with what it offers. However, I would not recommend this to newer users as all the fancy names and protection possibilities can be off putting and even dangerous to the system!

However, if you know what your doing and want the best protection for your computer, try Comodo Internet Security free edition and be amazed! I can only congratulate all the members of the Comodo company for how well they have done to offer protection to us all.

"too difficult to set up and use by mediocre user"

    December 31, 2012  |   By hoppingjp

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

I am told it provides great protection, great firewall, and great antivirus (but how do I really know?)
Defense + seems to protect very well but settings are also complex. Help is pretty good and detailed and actually sometimes advises you or explains the settings as opposed to how MS and many others that just repeat the question as the answer.

    Cons

Difficult to set up and know what all the settings might be doing or protecting, or not. Way too many instructions and options. I read all the reviews about how great Comodo is but how do most users really know? Some do, of course, but most are just jumping on the bandwagon and repeating what CNET etc says. Just because I haven't had a problem may mean I just haven't been attacked. The firewall was so complicated to set up and never showed that it blocked anything. So I felt compelled to disabled it and use MS. Dumb, I know, but did I have it set wrong? Surely it should be stopping even a casual interloper now and then. Never block anything. The AV takes hours (10 plus) tofull scan and sometimes I find it has been "initiating scan" for 10 hours! but no files scanned. Not a good feeling with either AV or Firewall except at least MS doesn't any complicated choices. Sometimes you have to tell it repeatedly to close the scan before it finally reacts and closes.

    Summary

Obviously I am not capable of comprehending the intricacies (sp?) of the instructions as good as 90% of your user reviewers. I trust it is protecting me but fear I have the setting all buggered up and leaving me vulnerable. Looking at dropping Comodo and trying ASC 6 with AV, but CNET gives it just so so reviews. Maybe just Avast and MS sec essentials. Disappointed and dejected with it all. It should be easier. Plug er in and fuggetabout it.

    "Comodo Internet Security"

    December 7, 2012  |   By winstonebook

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

I use this for my home computer. It includes a firewall and an antivirus and that protects you greatly. It also includes Defense+ which is pretty much why I switched to Comodo.

    Cons

A con for a good program? Well looks like there are no cons.

    Summary

Overall, Comodo Internet Security is a great program to actually protect you and remove threats for FREE. That is what pretty much matters.

    "Very Pleased"

    November 28, 2012  |   By bdkern

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

Unobtrusive, other than pop-ups indicating it reviewing a program
Doesn't seem to slow down my PC.
Works well with Apple devices and programs (ex. iTunes). We had problems with iTunes syncing and were told by Apple support that Comodo had the least problems and that has been the case.
    It's FREE for home users!

    Cons

None that I can think of.

    Summary

We have been using it for two years on four laptops without a problem. I had previously used Avast, AVG, and AntiVir and none were as stable, nor as fast.
