"Firewall is good for a freebe, but not worth the suite"

    April 22, 2013  |   By LeuExcedo

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

The Firewall is possibly the best firewall you can get for free.
The Sandbox mode can also be nice if you use it.

    Cons

Everything else is pretty paranoid, to the point where even legitimate software requires you to shut down the whole suite to install. It also is quite sluggish, and required CCleaner to fully uninstall and remove from the registry. The tools, other than the firewall, didn't even function for the simplest of malware, while my other scanners (malwarebytes and Spybot S&D, both free) would find the malware directly after Comodo's Antivirus claimed I was malware free when stress testing.

    Summary

If you really need a firewall for free, this is the one to get. If you want a suite that does it all, look elsewhere, and expect to pay if you want real security. Free might sound nice, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

As far a free suites go, only the firewall really excels here. If you plan on mixing and matching pieces of different companies free security software, Comodo has one of the best free firewalls out today, keyword being free. If you want just one free suite to rule them all, look elsewhere, and save yourself a headache.

Also, the secure DNS is available to anyone without installing anything, if you set it up yourself. IF that is the deciding factor for you, look elsewhere.

    "So far so good"

    April 11, 2013  |   By iswaryam

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

I decided to try this based on the reviews above. I wanted to try something different from the usual contenders and Comodo seemed to be a robust option.
Installation was easy, as always I like to customise what I install. The settings are pretty straightforward.
The alerts re new programs are neat and flexible. So far it has me feeling safe and I hope it doesnt change

    Cons

    None so far.

    Summary

This one is a sure contender for those who are looking to breaking away from the usual players

    "Light and magnificent!"

    February 13, 2013  |   By almoria

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

i downloaded 100 complicated types of malware(30 viruses and worms, 30 trojan horses, 10 rogue security software websites, and 30 rootkits from my old vxheavens kit, which i updated), then i personally tested this by installing comodo internet sec. free and it blocked all of these new malwares completely, but 1 trojan because this trojan was made of java and comodo couldn't detect it. The rogue antiviruses were blocked off by comodo. To test comodo removal scores, I installed all these malwares on a spare pc. Then when i installed it, it removed every single virus very thoroughly except for the java virus. None of the antiviruses can detect a java virus except Panda.

    Cons

Can't detect a java virus. Did not remove all registry files left behind.

    Summary

In all my testing free antivirus approximately ~:

    Avg: Blocks 97/100 Removes 95/100
    Aviara: Blocks 92/100 removes 92/100
    Avast: Blocks 99/100 removes 90/100
    Panda: Blocks 98/100 removes 93/100
Comodo Internet free: Blocks 99/100 removes 97/100
ZoneAlarm free: Blocks 96/100 removes 95/100
    Ad-aware free: Blocks 90/100 removes 96/100

These were all tested in 2 days prior to the invention and downloads of the malware.

"Powerful Detection & Protection... Comodo no. 1!!!"

    February 12, 2013  |   By Summerberry_88

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

    > Powerful detection
    > Powerful protection
    > Strong firewall, Heuristics & HIPS (Defense+)
    > Auto Sandbox
    > Clean Endpoint (Cleaning Essentials tool to clean persistent infections)
    > Smart & friendly interface (new interface version 6 2013)
    > Easy to use like everything in 1-click
    > Powerful cleaning
    > Light in system (can feel it myself)
    > Fast signature database updates

    Cons

Nothing to say at the moment. But personally, I recommend this product be tried first. You will set yourself!

    Summary

I use Comodo Internet Security version 5 (2012) before moving to version 6 (2013) now. Personally, the new-look version 6 overall give more confidence to the safety of my laptop. Thanks to Comodo group which has made this drastic change.

I have tested some antivirus products used my classmates after discussing with them. For that, I download 6000 active virus for this test. A summary of the results as follows.

    From 6000 infected files:
    1. Avast - 5733 (95.55%)
    2. Avira - 5885 (98.08%)
    3. AVG - 5721 (93.35%)
    4. Bitdefender - 5859 (97.65%)
    5. Comodo - 5950 (99.17%)
    6. ESET - 5716 (95.26%)
    7. Kaspersky - 3400 (56.67%)
    8. Norton - 2254 (37.57%)

What I do is not to make sales promotion Comodo products. I understand, every antivirus products offer different ways when dealing with virus attacks. But as a consumer, you should evaluate its own against many antivirus products on the market to
build your own confidence to use it.

"Using this for the past three years.. Happy !"

    February 8, 2013  |   By ChrstopherRS

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

I've used Avast, AVG, McAfee, Kaspersky, Bitdefender on my quest for finding better security suites and accidentally stepped into Comodo. Wow is the word since then. It never alerts you of an intrusion and I've never had any problems whatsoever. I've always connected through secureDNS and I have been safe from even 'potentially unsafe' websites.

    Cons

Not much with the latest version. Only the occasional popping up of geekbuddy and ant-error though nothing serious has happened.

    Summary

Installed on my 4 yr old latitude, a brand new HP g6 and a 7 yr old Pentium 4 PC. Able to connect them all and haven't found any virulent activity so far. Having peace online :)

"Best I've ever used going back to 1996!"

    February 4, 2013  |   By rmonterhq

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

Even better than any pay for suites that I have tried; IT WILL NOT BOG DOWN YOUR COMPUTER, AND IT CHECKS FOR UPDATES EVERY HALF HOUR!! Most freebies only update once a day!! It provides superb protection. I never have a virus and I am online 24/7.

    Cons

Not for beginners but I have seen pay-for suites that are more difficult to use and aren't as good.

    Summary

If you have the patience and stick with it you'll get the hang of it and it will serve you well.

"Abysmal is what describes it best"

    January 31, 2013  |   By dbmalya

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

Strong firewall. That's the only place where comodo tops. Everything else, simply sucks.

    Cons

*HIGHLY UNSTABLE. My 64bit Windows 8 was stable as a rock. Since i installed CIS, it will randomly lock up for no apparent reason.
The only way to revive the computer, would be to press and hold the power button and force a shut down.
*HEATS UP the computer like no other antivirus does. My fans keep rolling all the time. Uninstall Comodo, and the fans fire up and stop and fire up again and stop again. But when comodo is installed, they never stop, the fans keep rolling till i shut windows down.
*CANNOT ENABLE/DISABLE components by right-clicking the tray icon in windows 8. A popup about "how long do you want this turned off for", flashes and goes away. Restart the computer, it works again, but then again every once in a while, i get this bug, the screen about how long to disable, just flashes for half a second and disappears
*TERRIBLE UI. As if i'm blind and need super-huge buttons and icons. The main screen wastes screen estate. A big blank box for the sandbox? Terrible design.

    Summary

This is too bad and too highly unstable while running in windows 8.
    The comodo firewall rocks though.
Install the comodo firewall ONLY. Disable the stupid "Defense+" thing, it's paranoid, like Vista's UAC was. And don't even think of installing that geek buddy. The geeks are absolute retards. If you are a regular reader of technology websites like CNET, you probably know much more about computers than these so called retard geeks do.
Install the comodo firewall only (not the antivirus, not geek buddy, not defense+) and get another anti-malware for malware protection.Avira or Avast would be good.

"Comodo is rather a virus than antivirus !!!!"

    January 22, 2013  |   By newfedra

    Version: Comodo Internet Security 5.10

    Pros

Eye candy (but this won't protect you against viruses)

    Cons

    * VERY unstable
    * The uninstaller will not uninstall the adware but only Comodo Antivirus.
    * No support - There is no support to help you manually remove the leftovers from your computer. There is a support via chat but they will help you ONLY if you buy a license there, on spot! So you have to pay money only to be able to remove the program from your computer!!!
    * Lots and lots of positive alarms
    * Adware - Comodo pretends their antivirus is freeware but it isn't. Its bloated adware. Lots of pop-us and reminders that you should be ashamed that you are using the free version and that you need to upgrade soon! But this is nothing! They will replace your DNS providers with theirs and you will see their ads when you do searched in Firefox URL box. You will see this a page with comodo ads.
    * It installs a new browser (Dragon) and replace firefox with it.
    * It installs spyware software (GeekBudy) and ads in your computer. GeekBudy will stay connected to internet all the time!

    Summary

    STAY AWAY FROM COMODO ANTIVIRUS!
    Horrible product. Full of adware.

I will personally go back to KIS.
