Comodo Internet Security is a free antivirus and PC security solution that combines a number of effective security tools into one easy-to-use package. It's one of the latest challengers to enter the expanding field of free security bundles, with which it shares some important characteristics, such as cloud-based virus scanning and behavior analysis to counter zero-day threats, a sturdy firewall, sandboxing, and anti-spyware -- all controlled from a single access point that takes the guesswork and program-swapping out of the security equation. Each strives to satisfy advanced users and absolute beginners alike. Comodo Internet Security passes all those checkpoints and adds some unique extras, such as the privacy-enhancing Comodo Dragon browser and SecureDNS service that lets you surf safely and maybe faster, too. We've been using Comodo's free firewall app for some time, and it's proved every bit as effective as the better-known free firewalls. It's a major component of Comodo Internet Security.

The program's System Tray icon accesses the configuration files for Internet Security, Firewall Security, and Proactive Security, and four optional Security Level settings: Antivirus, Firewall, Defense, and Sandbox. We'll skip to the chase and state that Comodo Internet Security cleared the bar for all-around security. And, like the standalone firewall, Comodo Internet Security plays well with other security tools, including some large packages. In functionality and performance, it's much like its competitors, all of which share similarities. It scanned our system, updated itself automatically, and sandboxed new apps for checking and approval. Dragon is an excellent Chromium-based browser that integrates with Comodo's SecureDNS service (other browsers do too) to offer enhanced privacy. SecureDNS changed our network settings; we noticed no difference in browsing, though.

When free antivirus programs started offering the same protection and security (and even databases and engines) as premium antivirus software, the big players responded by bundling other security tools, including firewalls, threat isolation, and anti-adware tools designed to protect your PC from a wide range of critical and potential threats. Now Comodo has stepped up its game and upped the level of competition with Comodo Internet Security. It belongs on any short list of free PC security solutions.

"This may well break your system."

April 02, 2014  |  By DarthCynic

 |  Version: Comodo Internet Security 6.3.302093.2976

Pros

Given it never worked and created problems into the bargain well I'd have to say, none I can see.

Cons

Seems to have caused Windows Explorer to fail permanently pretty much rendering the system useless; kind of a deal breaker con that.

May have caused the system restore to experience errors when attempting to restore.

Summary

I had version 5.something - sorry I don't recall it beyond the five - on a Win7 laptop, have had no issues and been happy with its performance. Today I noticed a message flag over a program update so I approved the update and let it get on with it complete with expected request to restart. I click restart, turns off, back on, boots up and freezes, apparently Windows Explorer has ceased working and cannot be fixed.

Wonderful.

I restart via the taskmanager, maybe a one off glitch. Nope, Win Explorer fails every time thus rendering the system useless; anything I try to access from taskmanager similarly crashes. I go to safemode and try to restore the system but this keeps indicating a failure to restore to the specified point; may be related may not be but it's the first time I've encountered it. So now I yank Comodo out whilst downloading the new version from Cnet on another machine; maybe it was an updater error? I install from fresh while denying all of the add-ons, however, the problem persists, Win Explorer crashes on boot up every time with Comodo version 6.3.302093.2976.

I get rid of it again, straightforward if time consuming, and can't say I'm all that enthused about going near it again. Whatever they have done seems to now play very poorly with essential things on Win7 like Win Explorer which you kinda need. Therefore, and unless some fix is signaled, I'd strongly advise anyone from installing this version on Win7 as it appears to be extremely corrupt hence very destabilizing to the system.

"DO NOT DOWNLOAD COMODO"

April 02, 2014  |  By windoxouser

 |  Version: Comodo Internet Security 6.3.302093.2976

Pros

NONE AT ALL

Cons

Like other people giving bad reviews on the software it is all true.
I experienced most of what other people had to say about this software.
I downloaded it one night and all seemed fine until the next day when I turnded on my pc and the only thing that seemend to move on my screen was the cursor. Nothing else would happen.
I tuned my pc on and off 3 times!! Nothing changed so I had to go on my laptop do a search to see if I could fix the problem.
What I found out is that other people have had problems using this software past and present.
So in order to get rid of this program I had to go into safemode on my pc to try and get rid of it. It did not work so my other option in safe mode was to do a system restore. Thank goodness that worked!!!.

Summary

DON'T DOWNLOAD IT.

"DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM!!!"

March 31, 2014  |  By undergroundnomad

 |  Version: Comodo Internet Security 6.3.302093.2976

Pros

None I had to fight for over a hour and take apart part of my laptop to even get my computer to work again

Cons

after initial reboot and even after doing a update before the reboot my computer crashed and would not load at all I assume for it is windows 8.1 tho the program turned my computer into a never ending crash state could not even get into my bios. If this happens to you disengage all power remove any batter and wait a minute, go into safe mode which is not easy on 8.1 then go either to the registry, dos, or your partition it is installed in and rip it out manually for you can not even uninstall it in safe mode and if you go to your desktop screen or try to uninstall or go to your task manager they all load the desktop screen first and when this garbage of a program goes to load your computer lock's up again no bios nothing and thanks to windows great programming you can't go to the uninstall window or task manager without merging into the desktop screen. uninstall manually safe mode or dos or registry or you won't have a computer to use

Summary

Geek Buddy automatically installs itself with this program and you can not uninstall this program in safe mode much less Geek Buddy won't uninstall if you are not online which is the same thing as a virus, this is the worst program I have tried in many many years would not use it if they fixed the bug that locks your computer down

"awesome so far"

March 24, 2014  |  By napoleon2014

 |  Version: Comodo Internet Security 6.3.302093.2976

Pros

to the previous writer. if you click the advanced button (the writing 'advanced') the checkboxes come up for all the freeware bloat it puts on your computer. I unchecked all they are talking about. toolbars may have been put also, I just unenabled and uninstalled any programs I didn't get to check (I don't think any extra came, other than a toolbar, not ask.com either).
awesome, LOW RESOURCES WHEN SCANNING WHEN PUT INTO BACKGROUND MODE, WHICH IS LOWER THAN LOW. it actually worked. everything works well. only had a couple of days. better than MSE.

Cons

maybe one toolbar got installed. that's it. no big deal. if its too advanced, try bitdefender freeware. or panda.

Summary

the advanced settings are amazing. im a computer engineer and im amazed. you can control virtually everything on the computer as far as individual files etc. control is better than MSE, Norton, mcafee.

"Adware, Ask bar, Difficult to uninstall"

March 21, 2014  |  By rsdgsdfgsdfg

 |  Version: Comodo Internet Security 6.3.302093.2976

Pros

Used to be a trusted brand

Cons

Installs ad-ware along with program.
Attempts to install Ask.com toolbar.
Attempts to install Geek Buddy
Attempts to install an advert program that replaces genuine ads with ads served by Comodo??? Surely this is worse than ad-ware! Nightmare to uninstall.

Summary

Used to trust Comodo, but it now employs every trick in the book that I though this kind of software was to prevent! CNet should review the current version, although we all know CNet love to install programs themselves through their installer so probably can't call the kettle black.

"Comodo Internet Security Is The Best"

March 13, 2014  |  By Makazestorm

 |  Version: Comodo Internet Security 6.3.302093.2976

Pros

If you look up av tests you will find comodo is one of the best out there in 2014 for peace of mind and security. It comes with a damn good prevention and detection rate. And the firewall doesnt allow nothing through without your permission. Ive tested it extensively and it hasnt failed me yet. But it is impressive. It has a paid version but loses none of its features in the process over the paid version. It keeps you safe and thats all I can ask of it.

Cons

Full scan can take a bit depending on your PC and OS. And it is somewhat user friendly but geared more towards those who know what they are doing unlike most reviews on here. They dont know what they are doing. And I can understand that fustration.

Summary

A overall powerful internet security program in a world of dangerous landscapes of the internet. Provides highly powerful protection. But can be overwhelming for newer PC users. I have no doubt im protected as a user of comodo internet security and that is all I can ask of them.

"In a word - Dire."

March 13, 2014  |  By mwstuntz

 |  Version: Comodo Internet Security 6.3.302093.2976

Pros

Non at all.

Cons

During install I decided what I didn't want installed. This garbage went and installed it anyway.

Slowed my computer right down and at one point even I was unable to log in. The blue screen. Maxed out cpu.

Annoying false positives and checks.

I did not install geek buddy, yet there it is and keep popping up.

Invasive program.

I could go on.

If I could give this a minus 5 star rating, I would.

Summary

Do not use. There are far better AV programs out there.

This is on the whole a total scam.

"Total piece of junk!"

March 10, 2014  |  By Twistdmojo

 |  Version: Comodo Internet Security 6.3.302093.2976

Pros

Looks nice.

Cons

SLOWED performance WAY down! Not just while scanning and not just my internet activities, my whole computer and I have a fast processor and lots of RAM. When I called for the "free" help, they told me I needed to upgrade to the paid version for any help.

Summary

I don't know how anyone at CNET could think this was a good product. That certainly hasn't been my experience. I wouldn't recommend this PoS to my worst enemy!

"It's a junk!"

February 11, 2014  |  By FAntunez

 |  Version: Comodo Internet Security 6.3.302093.2976

Pros

It seems very beautifull

Cons

In the first contact with the "technical services" you perceive that they are sellers. I wanted to try Comodo and they forced me to buy a three year license. As I had seen it was a very good fire wall I finished agreeing. Even there I found a lot of tricks that the vendor tryed to hide to me: automatic renewal, and more.
The software comes with a lot of strings attached. This tehnical service, is for only one year, even if you have bought a full licens for 3 years.
Comodo, as a virus, install a lot of subsoftware with out consulting, as the Home Page (Yahoo!) for your navigator, that continue to reinstall even when you have uninstalled the program. You need to find a remover on Internet to fully inistall

Summary

A trash. A junk software!

"One of the best"

February 06, 2014  |  By William_Haha

 |  Version: Comodo Internet Security 6.3.302093.2976

Pros

-Free
-Strong protection against malwares.
-Won't slow your system down

Cons

-Annoying false positives

Summary

Overall, it offered a great protection. Just that sometimes it will shows false positives. I didn't really use it to scan my computer as I normally use Malwarebytes to scan for any Malware. I use Comodo IS just for protection against malwares, not for scanning.

The settings is not really user friendly, but you can check via YouTube. There are some examples of how to set Comodo IS to their best.

I read that lots of people complaint about scam.. well.. you can just reject the offer by Geek Buddy. I not sure whether are they really bunch of scammers as I didn't use Geek Buddy. I don't have any issue with that.
