"Hijacks your browser and makes annoying noises."
Version: Comodo Firewall 5.12
Pros
It doesn't slow everything down to a crawl like ZoneAlarm does.
Cons
Forcibly changed my default start page and search engine to Yahoo, and it constantly makes beeping noises that repeat until you do something, without an option to disable. Very annoying if you aren't in the room.
Summary
Well, if your firewall acts just as annoying as the malware you're trying to protect your system from, even free isn't woth it.

"What happened?"
Version: Comodo Firewall 5.12
Pros
Might be easy for someone not used to computers, maybe.
Cons
What happened to this firewall?? I tried 6.0.264710etc.
and there where no proper firewall.
You install and run a scan then Comodo decides what is trusted and what is unknown. Unknown is up to you to decide. Trusted (like 90%) is decided and there is nothing you can do about it, it is allowed.Summary
Another sad development of an ok software. Are PC users really that stupid that they cant be trusted to even decide if they want to block a program? If you have not tried the 6.0 it will shock you if you ever used Comodo before. It is dumbed down to nearly nothing, a "modern" interface and no settings. The screenshot above is from the good old one btw.

"Firewall OK, installation isn't"
Version: Comodo Firewall 5.12
Pros
Firewall works smoothly so far. Unrecognized files are sandboxed until you allow via the popup, connections can be allowed or blocked, "remember my choice" is the default. Passes grc.com leaktest.
Cons
Careful when installing. There are 3 choices you can opt out from, such as accepting Yahoo toolbar and homepage. Then, if you click the fine print that says "customize installation" you can avoid installing GeekBuddy (21MB) and Dragon browser (31MB). The firewall is listed as 40MB but shows as 99MB on my system... I hate installations with tricky extra junk.
Summary
Firewall seems to work well with good simple interface. Watch out for extra junk in the installation.

"Used to be the best...now just a bug"
Version: Comodo Firewall 5.12
Pros
Used to be an impenetrable wall, with many features and a screen where you could see what programs were accessing the internet, but it is all gone thanks to the new update
Cons
New free version is HIGHLY non stable. I tried re-installing 3 times, scince this was without a doubt the most reliable firewall for free on the market, but the amount of bugs was much too big. It allways reached a point where it crashed, and even clicking the "Fix it" button wouldnt do anything, going to the point where it even cut off my internet access.
Summary
Great firewall, would be the best by a mile leaving the competition behind - if the last update had not ruined it...I highly DO NOT recommend until they fix all these major bugs...

"Very unhappy"
Version: Comodo Firewall 5.12
Pros
It will block everything and has worked perfect for months.
Cons
It will block everything even legitimate safe websites after their recent updates. Posting in their forum as recommended does not change anything. They are now costing me money. Plus, slowing my system. I will be uninstalling.

"Still My Firewall Of Choice, Despite Recent Bugs"
Version: Comodo Firewall 5.12
Pros
When working correctly it provides excellent inbound and outbound protection (passes all recent leak tests). It's also highly configurable, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Fortunately, it's set up pretty well out-of-the-box (new users shouldn't have to mess with much), but I do suggest exploring the available settings. I like to set the firewall security level a notch higher than default which requires my allowance of any program or process trying to access the web initially until the firewall is "trained". The Defense + module is behaviorally based and, as such, takes a little time to learn your identity. It is set to firewall mode by default, but also has a more aggressive mode, "proactive" which is prone to false-positives (see cons) and is not for the faint of heart. Finally, there is both auto and manual sandboxing, which is unusual in a free firewall. The web-based help-guides are probably the best I've ever encountered.
Cons
The proactive mode is VERY aggressive, prone to false-positives and will often sandbox a safe program. It's very harsh, and will react to anything without a digital signature. Unless you like a lot of pop-ups, I'd leave it alone. I've only used the included live-chat Geek Buddy service a couple of times - I found them to be of little help, usually asking you to send them an e-mail describing the problem. Getting back to the program, it looks like the last update had some bugs in it (as you can see by the other reviews), and my copy eventually became unstable, refusing to initialize and causing some instability with my W7, 64 bit OS, so I'm installing a new copy with the hopes they've corrected the problem(s).
Summary
Like I said in my summary, Comodo is still my favorite firewall despite some recent issues. No software is perfect, and, at it's best, Comodo works quite well. Once trained, it's as quiet as any of them and, while I've tried other firewalls , it's still the best free firewall I've found.
I had reason to believe that some OS stability problems were being caused by some corrupted files in my Comodo firewall - I had recently purged my system of a trojan - so I decided to replace it with a fresh copy from their website. Well they have a new version (v.6, I believe) with a new GUI and some extra features that is highly unstable !! It crashed my system a couple of times, refusing to open on each attempt, causing a complete system freeze. Running it in safe mode brought up it's diagnostic tool which also crashed, stating they were problems it could not fix. Finally I had to uninstall it (in safe mode) and run a system restore to a point prior to it's installation. I am NOT a happy camper! This used to be the best free firewall, bar none. Now it's a piece of crap. My advice is :DO NOT INSTALL , at least until they get the bugs out.

"Used to trust, now it's not worth downloading."
Version: Comodo Firewall 5.12
Pros
The pros for this software CAN be high (free, good level of security, nice interface, decent amount of customization)
Cons
I recently (over the last few months) bought a new laptop. A Toshibia. I installed my anit-virus (avast!, which I trust completely), I then attempted to install Comodo just as I have before on my desktop (without any problems at all), but once my laptop restarted, I got a notification saying "Network firewall failed to start". I of course clicked the "Fix It" button and it said there was a problem that it couldn't fix and that it would create a report. I re-downloaded and re-installed about 10 or 20 times. All having the same result. I contacted the tech support and did everything they said to fix it. Nothing worked. I have since tried it off and on a few times here and there, all having the same result. I downloaded from the official site and contacted tech support a few times. Finally I just decided it wasn't worth the trouble.
Summary
It's free, and has good qualities you WANT to have in a firewall, but simply put, I couldn't install it correctly. Problem after problem came up. I know that if it's happened to me, it's happened to other people. Windows Firewall (windows 7) is by default a very powerful firewall. If you MUST have a 3rd party firewall, I suggest going with something else besides Comodo.
