    "Very good, indeed..."

    December 22, 2007  |   By LeoSublimus

    Version: Comic Life 1.4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I went back to Comic Life upon a re-installation of Tiger - and it worked properly. There had been, most likely, a conflict with other programs installed to result in erratic enough a behaviour for my earlier comment.
I am actually very satisfied with Comic Life (with a very slight reservation for its relatively strenuous use of processor resources in older computers); even under Leopard this excellent program runs very well, indeed.
I like to apologise to the developers for the abrupt nature of my reference to the program.
All-in-all, an excellent program, and quite singular.

"The buggiest software I've ever encountered"

    May 17, 2007  |   By Leo Sublimus

    Version: Comic Life 1.3.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Try to export a file, not necessarily a heavy one (previously edited in Photoshot; then in Comic Life) in .jp(e)g - and after an hour - yes, an hour - of desperate attempts to crash your computer (throughout which one can't do a thing in another program, for nothing will respond) Comic Life will report with an export error! Congratulations to the developer! You managed something quite unprecedented with OS X: a program, capable of abusing a Macintosh computer worse than any virus would harm a Windoze-operated rubbish!..
With Photoshop, FCP and similar programs I haven't happened to burden my PowerBook (1.5 GHz, 2 GB memory) to one-third the strain presented by a simple export to .jp(e)g in Comic Life!

By the way, this dinosaur of a bug was present in its earlier itiretions (most certainly, in 1.2.3) as well as in the present 1.3.3 version.
I give it 5 full stars for your singular accomplishment, Bravo!..

    "A great Mac package"

    April 27, 2007  |   By slboettcher

    Version: Comic Life 1.3.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is a pice of software that brings me back to Mac beginnings.
It's simple, fun, and well done.
Not bloated, not gimmicky, just works.
If I hadn't got this free with my Macs, I'd still buy it.
Other developers could learn from this package.
If you're tired of software that takes 2GB of hard drive space, and does everything including walking your dog, then have a look.
I wish more software was like this.

    "Fantastic software"

    April 17, 2007  |   By neil64

    Version: Comic Life 1.3.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I own a Pilates studio as well as run instructor courses for our association. I'm constantly looking for new ways to graphically package both marketing and educational information.

The visual stimulation from the comic book format is vastly superior to what I've used in the past with Word (and I think of myself as pretty creative). In many ways, it's more appropriate for presenting what can be dry subjects and making them more intriguing.

Since I can't afford to buy a full-on graphics package (as well as too much...too complicated), it is already proving to be the perfect solution.

...and I'm having a great time using it! Makes work seem like fun.

If you haven't yet bought this, GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND DO SO!

    "A brilliant piece of work"

    March 30, 2006  |   By looseduke

    Version: Comic Life 1.2.4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This one smart and extremely enjoyable software. My kids love it and use it in completely different ways, and so do I. My son who is 13 really loves it, and shoots pictures of toy soldiers in his room and in the backyard, and then uses ComicLife to create a full story out of it. My daughter has done several school projects using it, and she's considered a sort of mac genius at school because the teacher has no idea of how easy and intuitive is to use this program. I have even managed to turn the usual pics of meetings and work stuff into fun comics, and use it for captioning pictures all the time.

I highly recommend this program, it's extremely well designed and trouble-free. You'll really give new life to the digital pictures in your collection.

    "Superb App"

    November 5, 2005  |   By Rick Hess

    Version: Comic Life 1.2.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Have used Macs for years - this is the most enjoyable app I've ever used. WELL worth the purchase price.
This app will also allow you to design birthday cards (actually, birthday 8.5 x 11" signs) beyond your wildest dreams. Beware - word will spread and you'll be in demand!
    Thanks for a tremendous app.

As a comicbook fan and store owner when I saw a write up in MacAddict I said "I gotta see this!" This is a great piece of software that has the potential to get even better! I highly recommend Comic Life and I hope to see more from this as time goes by!

    "AWESOME! KRRRACCKK! A home-run application!"

    Summary

This is an awesome application that I hope continues to evolve. It's intuitive and fun interface is so easy to use and really brings the fun & magic of comics to life, not only in the things you can create with it, but also the process of creating it. Thanks for a great Mac OS X app and please keep up the great work! A+ all around. My only problem is... "why didn't someone come up with this sooner?" FANATASTIC!!

    "Magnificent"

    June 17, 2005  |   By Martin Turner--2008

    Version: Comic Life 1.1.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
    Downloaded it.
    Tried it.
    Paid for it.

Magnificent -- not 100% stable so you need to save regularly: it gets confused using some of its own filters. But, that aside, this software is almost perfect, which is very rare for an early version like this.

Areas for improvement: selecting objects is fiddly. Using alpha-channel masked images over other images is also a bit unintuitive. Could also do with a feature for fading picture over picture.

Other than that, absolutely astounding. A Marvel.
