"Good balance of features vs. usability"

*** Plenty of features including export to several different formats; boolean search that allows all fields to be searched; loan tracking; and tons of different views. The "details view" of each album shows any cover art you've downloaded, along with a track list and any data you've entered. I like the fact that if you haven't entered data, the field is just not shown -- not all of us care about purchase date or technical credits, for example.
*** Manual and automatic data entry. You can insert the CD and have CMC go out to the FreeDB database, and Amazon, to garner whatever information it can. For your own compilation discs, the program will create a track list with just timings. At first I was a little worried about the lack of CDDB support, but after trying CDDB with some other shareware programs that use it, I realized that automatic entry is not that useful for classical CDs anyway. The data available (from CDDB or FreeDB) tends to be patchy and ill-organized. If you want to organize your data neatly and consistently, you're going to do a lot of manual work anyhow.
*** Lots of data fields, logically arranged. As you enter data, it is added to the appropriate list (there are about 30 of these) for quick entry. Relevant data can be entered for individual tracks as well as for the album as a whole.
*** Customizable without being confusing. You can rename any field, to include information that is more important to you than what's included in the default structure. You can also customize folder views, so that you can see at a glance, for example, the division of albums by location on your shelves. Album names can have different display and sort names, so that "La Boheme" is filed under the B's.
*** Good support, with e-mail response as well as forums on the Collectorz web site.

Pros
1) Very Easy to use It can be as easy as putting a CD in your computer, it looks up the information for you. But it also lets you add everything manually. Out of all of my CDs I only had to add 10 this way. it certainly has saved alot of typing.
2) Sort and find anything in the data base. Sort by any of the fields in your data base with ease.
3) User defined fields. They alow you to title some of the fields waht you want.
4) Very good user interface. Very easy on the eyes, and very copmuter friendly.
5) Skinable, They have alot of skins at their site.
I have been using this program for 3 years and my collection is now 1600 CDs large. This program has helped me maintained my CD inventory. Before I had this program I had a mess. Besides keeping inventory you can add all kinds of infromation about each CD, along with a lyrics storeage part and have the ability to get to your MP3 files to play. They have been very good with updating the program for problems (problems where so small I didn't know there was any until the update) and adding more extras. I have other programs of theirs and I am very pleased. I have highly recommended this to friends and they have been pleased. These guys will even take feedback, recommendations and reply back. Great program.

Very reliable. Never failed. Very flexible. Scan Barcode or CD or add manually. Nice Feature: Album Covers. Worked well on my LP Section (Manually added ca 1000 LPs Titels and Artists)Send Information out, get back full Songlist and Album Cover...great! Regular Updates that are easy to download and install,always work, minor problems (that I usually hadn't found out,yet) are corrected within days.

just wanted to say thanks for this wonderful catalogue software. I recently
discovered you can drag and drop CD's to areas you want them placed this is
making it 1000 times faster to catalogue them. This particular helps when
you have box sets or twin CD's Like I do.
Anyway this software rocks and I have recommended it to friends who also
have large CD's collections. The new scanner is interesting but I use my own the Grip 22000 Barcode scanner with very little effort. -

The possibility to download data from All Music Guide has gone...Let's face it:the guys want to be paid for their work but they were theirselves selling products that were downoloading data from sites they had NO agreement with...This sounds a bit unfair to me.
Good overall support but the developers will not add any feature you need, they will only add what they think it is really necessary..that's more or less nothing. Third release I test without finding this program to worth its price...guess I won't test it any further.
