  "Great"

  Version: Cole2k Media Codec Pack (Standard) 6.0.8

  Pros

  I normally use the advanced version of the cole2k codec pack for my home pc, but I use this one for my in-car PC (for simplicity and to save space).

  Its smaller size seems to be because this package mainly just has decoders rather than both encoders and decoders.

  Cons

  I can't find anything bad.

  "Does exactly as it says"

  Pros

  Allows you to play MOST media files, though I've run into a couple here and there that it doesn't. Using it for over 2 months now, I've had some great live concerts downloaded and burned to disc for a couple years now but haven't been able to play them with sound and/or video, torn between simply tossing the effort it took to find them in the trash or holding out in hopes of one day finding the codec to play my revered music videos. My waiting was NOT in vain with this codec pack. Not only does it enable you to choose which included codecs you would like it to run for each program, you can set it to auto-select and be worry or hassle free about most media you wish to play. And with absolutely no adware, spyware etc., this is just an overall great codec pack for my XP SP2. I highly recommend it for anyone.

  Cons

  As I said, it decodes MOST media for you, but in the rare instances you find one that it doesn't, the overall performance of it far outweighs those it can't.
