Ever had a movie where you could hear only the sound but there were no video. Or only video and no sound. CodecInstaller is here to help you understand which codec you need and to let you install it in minutes. CodecInstaller is a Windows program that detects the Audio and Video codecs installed on your system, analyzes files to understand which codecs they require and suggests you to install them. CodecInstaller can also be used to distribute video files on a CD, to be sure that who receives the CD will have all the necessary codecs installed with a single tool he will be able to check if the codecs are already installed and up-to-date.

New category of filters is displayed in the 'installed filters window': 'general purpose filters'; filters are detected asynchronously, leaving the 'installed filters window' usable while detection is in progress. Version 2.8.1 contains just the core CodecInstaller module and it will download only the optional components the user selects.

Version: CodecInstaller 2.8.1

"Nice interface but bloated"

Pros: Shows you all the codes installed don your system and will tell you which codes you don't have that you can install. Also shows codes which can be updated.

Cons: Bloated and comes with tool bar even though I opted out of install.

"Everything you need in one package!"

Pros: Don't go searching for codecs when you can get them all here.

Wish I had this a few years ago!
