"Best Web Development App For Mac!"
Version: Coda 1.5
Pros
It comes with the Transmit Turbo-FTP Engine, makes editing your code seem so elegant, has tons of useful features (find and replace, css editor, built-in books, code snippets) and is just an all around pleasure to use.
Cons
Sometimes the syntax highlighting and auto completion can be a bit "wonky" when you're using mixed languages (HTML inside PHP).
Summary
Coda is hands down the best web development tool that I have ever used for a Mac. It has loads of nifty features in addition to all the standard stuff. The built-in books make it easy to lookup syntax from your favourite coding languages and the Transmit Turbo-FTP Engine allows for quick and painless FTP uploading/updating and editing of files as you work.
The find and replace is a step ahead of it's competitors with the ability to add in "variables" for your searching and the code snippets feature allows you to easily store bits of code so you can easily reuse the code again and again without all the typing.
The way they've done the "Sites" portion of Coda is absolute genius! It divides up everything you do into individual "Sites" that way all your information regarding a certain website or project is individually stored in the "Site" and it is only accessible when you're editing the corresponding "Site", otherwise it's conveniently stored away for your next use.
The variety of editors that are included just blow you away and have an extremely diverse set of functionality so that you have a tool for every situation (normal code editor with support for syntax highlighting of many different languages, a css editor that requires no css knowledge whatsoever, a terminal console so you can easily login via SSH to your websites, and a preview tool that will let you view your files in the browser of your choice).
Oh, and the beautiful graphics/animations are a nice touch!
All in all, Coda is simply the best web development app that I've used for Mac and I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone (professionals and newbies alike)! -
"Great start, but immature"
Version: Coda 1.1
Pros
Great interface, attached reference material is very useful, elegant and easy-to-use, a little cheaper than Dreamweaver. Auto-complete is usually pretty accurate.
Cons
Code coloring is buggy, especially for dynamic files (PHP, ASP, etc.). Default font is too slight for my eyes. FTP component doesn't have an "include linked files" option to automatically upload images, stylesheets, etc. "Mark for Upload" feature doesn't mark images (or any file) edited in another app. Still miles behind Dreamweaver. Should probably be a bit cheaper given all the bugs and lack of advanced features.

"Fantastic web development environment"
Version: Coda 1.0
Pros
If you hand-code websites on a mac, this is the only piece of software you should even think about. It does everything I need it to and nothing I don't. Reference books are built right in to the app, so I don't have to google my head off trying to figure out why my background won't show up. Seriously great app.

"AN OUTRAGE! does not run in windows 3.1!!"
Version: Coda 1.0
Pros
This soft ware should be worth one dollar! I am trying to make my internet home page on my brand new 466 and this "CODA" does not work! I even pressed the TURBO button and still nothing! Fire your soft ware developers because this should not even be called software! you are all hosers!!
Cons
well it's better than mine sweeper, I guess!!

"Great, all-in-one development application"
Version: Coda 1.0
Pros
FTP and manage your sites in the same environment as coding html, css and scripts. Newly modified files are automatically tagged for FTp upload on save. Also has a useful page preview of your coding efforts.
Cons
The only flaw I have found is the upload tracking doesn't always work if you add files outside of the program (like new images aren't automatically tagged for upload; you have to tag them manually for them to ftp to the right folder)
