"A bit quirky, but so far (2 days) so good!"
Easy installation and set up for both phone and computer (had a wifi connection for computer set up). Fast (4G) speed (but see "cons", below). Still in trial period, but if it keeps working as is, will buy...very reasonable price (and will be first app i've ever paid for!)
A bit quirky, in that it occassionally will not connect on first try (or sometimes second or third...and sometimes i had to do a reboot). Also, occassionally (but not often) drops the connection. And lastly, it seems very slow at getting me into a website - it has a fairly quick ping rate (approx. 60 msec) and download speeds are 4G, but after clicking to go to a site, i sometimes feel like i can bake a cake!
Despite the downsides, this is a worthwhile and worth-it app. Assuming my carrier "the big V" doesn't get a hold of me about using it, and no other problems arise the next 12 days, i will definitely buy it!btw...i have an HTC Rezound with ICS.

Updated on Aug 29, 2012here's an update - as mentioned above, i found Tether to be very slow in initially linking to a site. i've found a "weird" work-around - i run thru HotSpot Shield! if i turn on HotSpot Shield, then use the "protected" browser, Tether connects very quickly when i click to a website. don't ask me why, but it works. so it adds another step to getting on-line, but still worth the $5 v. $20/month thru "V".
