    "Outstanding!"

    November 13, 2010  |   By gnunnery

    Version: ClickRepair 3.4.1

    Pros

This totally does the job of cleaning up music brought in from vinyl.

    Cons

    Nothing to dislike.

    Summary

ClickRepair has many options for tweaking its behavior, but with just its default settings it is great! Unlike several other applications I have tried it just eliminates the clicks and pops not music transients. The music sounds the way it should. It doesn't sound compressed or filtered in any way. If you are bringing your old vinyl collection into the digital world I highly recommend ClickRepair.

    "Finally gave in"

    January 17, 2010  |   By tim.lance

    Version: ClickRepair 3.1.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have resisted this app too long. I prided myself on my abilities with Audition and now Soundbooth CS4. But my last project was so difficult I thought it'd really put CR through it's paces. I am shamed. Even at the default it produced better than my best. Thank goodness my work provides me with SB CS4 or I'd be quite perturbed as CR is easily worth more (i.e. if I'd have paid all that $$ when I could have just spent the $40 ...).

It *does* require reading the manual (and yes, you CAN preview) however the manual could be improved with more screenshots and circles and arrows, more examples, & more explicit guidelines for various issues on various genres (and issues with each).

It's not easy but I still give it 5 starts for "ease of use" because it is so powerful compared to input demanded by the user. And having said that, should one just blissfully use the presets and just accept the results, it might be considered to be incredibly easy to use.

    "UI is deal killer"

    August 16, 2009  |   By thebroz

    Version: ClickRepair 3.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I tried out this software, fully utilizing the trial period. I followed the documentation, reading it several times. After struggling with the application for the entire time I used it, I gave up.

There doesn't seem to be any way to preview your settings. If you use the default settings, you might get good results. I did on one album. I didn't on others. I tried to make settings that corresponded with the documentation suggestions. Then I tried to preview my file to see if I hit the mark. The bar across the top of the waveform screen is worse than useless for naviation. It implies you can navigate to a particular spot in the file, but you can't. It's kinda random where you might land. This "feature" alone wasted many many hours of my time.

I ended up purchasing iZotope RX. It's light years ahead of ClickRepair, and a truly professional grade piece of software. It's also far more expensive. Amazon has a much better price than the developer's web site, but it's still a LOT more money than ClickRepair. RX was worth it to me as nothing is more valuable to me than my time.

All that said, I will recommend this software, but with reservations. It's probably worth the money, but I would not call it a bargain. I believe it all depends on what sort of quality you expect and how much time you have to figure it out.

"Almost Too Good To Be True"

    June 23, 2009  |   By Slor

    Version: ClickRepair 3.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
It is rare to encounter a product that not only lives up to its billing but easily surpasses it. ClickRepair is just such a product. I hunted the internet to find LPs I listened to as a child growing up in Bermuda. I located and purchased them. Most were in pretty good condition, however, even the best LPs from the 50s have their share of ticks and pops. Another quick internet search revealed ClickRepair. I downloaded it and used it within minutes. The results were AMAZING. I am still stunned at the phenomenal job ClickRepair did. I am even more surprised it did so without killing off the audio quality of the recordings. I am deeply indebted to the developer. This is an application that is easily worth its price. I would strongly recommend it!

    "It works"

    September 24, 2008  |   By balsampillow

    Version: ClickRepair 2.3.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I was able to quickly de-click a stereo WAV file with this software. The interface is a little clunky, and there seems to be no way to audition the process in real time, but everything worked smoothly. I did have a problem playing the file back after it was processed. Had to import it into Audacity to listen. Also, stereo files must be interleaved but this is not in the documentation.

Nevertheless, it worked well and I was glad to find it.

This was used on a 17" Macbook Pro 2.4ghz running OS 10.4.11

    "Astounding. Just saved my life."

    Version: ClickRepair 2.3.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This software is brilliant. I desperately needed to de-click a recording, and frantically scoured the Internet for every de-clicking and noise reduction package / plugin I could find. None of them worked for me at all... apart from ClickRepair.

I used the tool entirely in "manual" mode, which takes a while, but I managed to completely turn around a very important and very very clicky recording.

The UI took a while to get used to... but please persevere. You will be rewarded by astounding results.

"ClickRepair is a work of ART!"

    February 17, 2008  |   By torchstar

    Version: ClickRepair 2.2.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have had such great results digitizing my vinyl using this application to fix the more challenged LP's. The developer created this software in the name of his own love of music- and the attention to detail really shows. The manual is so helpful with restoration technique suggestions. The presets are great- and if you want to set up some custom presets there's much to experiment with! I did a demo of it for my friend who was engineer at Fantasy Records, also worked for ILM- he wished this application existed when he was still in the music biz! Really... He was so impressed with the results I played for him. Brilliant work, great value.

    "Worth Every Cent!"

    December 6, 2007  |   By JD_1

    Version: ClickRepair 2.2.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Saves me tons of time and experimentation with other software and their settings to achieve what I want, without compromising any of the dynamic range from the original file.

I too use SoundSoap and it does have it's strengths. However, it, like many other programs of this kind, affects the sound quality when used for repairing clicks crackles and pops.

Click Repair does this without any degradation to the sound/music files you work with, and for the most part, the default setting will do the job right out of the box!

Another tool in my software box that compliments my other apps and helps me get the job done fast & professionally!

    Outstanding Brian & Thank you!

    "Programming Genius"

    November 10, 2007  |   By bdkennedy1

    Version: ClickRepair 2.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
First, yes it does work in Leopard. I have had no problems whatsoever.

This is one of those rare programs that does what it's supposed to do and does it extremely well. I don't think the developer even charges enough for it, but I'm not going to argue.

Every other click/pop program I've ever used for the Mac uses a filter and degrades the quality of the music. This program actually finds the clicks and pops and removes them without touching the music. I was so impressed that I had to re-rip all of my 12" singles because I couldn't stand the thought of having used other programs on them.
