CNET Editors' review
If you're looking for a Mac uninstaller with a little extra under the hood, CleanApp offers all the features you need to get rid of unwanted apps once and for all.
With CleanApp, you drag and drop apps to the interface, and then you can view them and their associated files before you decide what to do. But unlike other uninstall utilities for Mac, CleanApp offers a few extras across the top of the interface, so you can zero in on what you want to uninstall. The Applications button displays all installed apps; a System Accessories button lets you sift through files like plug-ins and screensavers; and under the More Features button you can quickly find and remove unused files, language packages, and old cache files.
One of our favorite features of CleanApp is its "Install Logging" option. It's a background task that records when you install new software, so you (and CleanApp) can be absolutely sure all associated files get the boot when you decide to uninstall them.
Overall, CleanApp has a nice feature set and does a thorough job of eradicating unwanted apps from your hard drive. With its drag-and-drop interface and added extras for getting rid of other junk files, it's easy to recommend CleanApp to any Mac user.
Publisher's Description
From Synium Software:
Why does Mac OS X need an Uninstaller?
Have you ever unsuccessfully tried to get rid of a program and all the files that came with it? Are logs, play lists and caches cluttering folders and volumes on your Mac? Don't you ask yourself from time to time where the multiple gigabytes of hard disk space continuously vanish to? Uninstall, archive, backup and analysis. CleanApp analyzes, archives and removes applications and on your Mac, complete with all relevant files.
Efficient
Our brand-new version 3 of CleanApp now gained in power and efficiency: requiring less memory and CPU than the predecessor, CleanApp 3 reliably tracks the most complex installations and quickly presents the user with a comprehensive listing of all information gathered so far.
Compatible
CleanApp's Logging-Service is our custom-designed mechanism to meticulously record all activities of applications on your Mac. This component has been updated, leveraging Apple's recommended programming architecture. CleanApp 3 is now completely Leopard-compliant and runs smoothly on Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6. To maintain backwards compatibility, we still fully support Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
Intuitive
Our entirely new GUI design comprises much of the feedback and suggestions we received from our users. CleanApp 3 has become even easier to handle and configure thanks to this new graphical user interface.
What's new in this version: Improved detection of trashed applications located on non-system volumes

"Very useful utility!"
Version: CleanApp 3.3.5

Very well designed application. Not only for uninstalling application but it has many more useful features. -
"Does what it suppose to do..."
Version: CleanApp 3.3.2
Pros
Very effective and a good overall complete package
Cons
A little complicated when cleaning out apps. Sometimes it doesn't give you enough information and therefore confidence that what you are about to delete is safe to get rid of.
Summary
An app that doe deliver but one that also makes you think before you just start deleting associated files with the main app. Clearing out unneeded files associated with the main app. resulted in major gains of HD space. But, I took some guesses that it was safe for me to continue. Would be nicer if it was more through and instilled confidence that it was okay to continue.

"It works in 10.6.2"
Version: CleanApp 3.2.3
Pros
It works as advertised. It has a nice help file. It offers a widget, if you care to install it.
Cons
Nothing found so far.
Summary
I compared this to the AppZapper and chose this one, even though it was $2.05 more expensive. The additional features were worth it to me. I was wondering about the bank charging a surcharge for a foreign transaction since this company is in Germany, which did not happen because they use a stateside service. The company provides the registration number on the receipt so there is no misunderstanding or waiting. The extra language removal feature emptied almost 500MB of files that I will never use. I like this one and highly recommend it to anyone who does a lot of loading, evaluating, and removal of files.

"Cleaning out the dead wood."
Version: CleanApp 3.2.3
Pros
Easy to use, nice clean interface, good logging of installations, and the community feature showing what files were removed by others is quite helpful.
Cons
About the only con I can come up with is that it will let you remove files you should not.
Summary
It goes beyond just trashing the application and lets you remove other associated files. This lets you clean out a lot of the dead wood so to speak. The logging feature gives very detailed information on what was installed with the program.
