    "Sharing between two computers"

    Version: Check Off 3.8

    Summary

Love this program. It is just what I was looking for except for one little thing. I would love to keep one list for both home and work...meaning the same list on two computers. Is there a way to do that? I see that I can export but I don't see where I could import the list. That would be ideal.

    "Easy and Elegant"

    Version: Check Off 3.6

    Summary

This is a fast, easy way to keep track of my freelance projects. The program is intuitive to use and my list was up and running in minutes. I can drag items up and down to prioritize them. About the only thing I'd want added was a preference for increasing the size of the notes text, the way you can for the main list of to-do items. On a high-resolution display, the notes text is quite small.

I suppose for people using it on small laptops, it might also be useful to have long lists in 2 columns....

I've tried a number of ways of keeping projects queued up and organized; this is the easiest and least needy of screen real estate and mouse clicks.

    Version: Check Off 3.6

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I agree with all the positive feedbacks, and wanted to add a few things. One important thing for those with a lot of menu apps is that you can assign a hot key keystroke to open/close Check Off. So if you have so many menu apps (like I do) that some get crowded out when using certain apps, you still have easy access to Check Off.

Also, I found this app to be incredible easy and intuitive to use. I had a fully functional ToDo list running within seconds of downloading the file. When you open the .dmg file, you are presented with the Check Off folder and an alias to your Applications folder. Installation is a matter of simply dragging the Check Off folder on top of the provided alias.

When you open the Check Off app, the checkmark appears in your menu. Clicking it, you are presented with a very simple menu of 5 items: Add Item, Add Folder, Delete Item/Folder, Labels, and Actions. The Actions menu includes Preferences, Print, Export, About Check Off and Quit Check Off. The Preferences allows you to control how Check Off behaves and appears; set your global hot key (which can be a combination of whatever keys you want); set your fonts, transparency and row height; personalize your labels; and set whether your want your ToDo list to be synced to your iPod notes (generation 3 and newer iPod required).

Adding/Deleting a new folder or item is very easy by simply clicking the menu icons.

Check Off is divided into two main sections: the ToDo item list and a freestyle notes area at the bottom where you can place whatever notes you want with each folder and item. Check Off allows you to resize the notes area, including resizing it to nothing so it's out of your way if you don't use notes.

The only thing I would like to change is to be able to use the return key to create a new ToDo item automatically. As it is now, you must click the menu icon each time you want to add a ToDo item. When you add one and press the return key, it ends the editing of that ToDo item and selects it. To add another ToDo item, you have to click the menu icon again. But this is so minor that I didn't penalize the Features rating.

I've tried many ToDo types of apps, both widgets and regular apps, and nothing has compared to this one. Check Off is the fastest, easiest, and most available ToDo app I've run across. And the fact that it's free makes it that much better.

    Summary

I use this daily as my only to-do list. Simple, easy, direct. Free (although I use it so much I felt compelled to send a donation).

There are certainly to-dos with more bells and whistles, but I found they got in the way or slowed things down. This takes a tiny bit of real estate in my menu bar, opens and closes with the touch of a hot-key, and can be organized and re-organized each day in just a few seconds.

    Sometimes basic is better.

I needed a simple, and unobtrusive todo list and after searching for all the options available (freeware/shareware/etc.)-- this was the best application for my needs.

It does exactly what it should do -- and it's FREE :D

    "Excellent to do list!"

    Version: Check Off 3.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I was looking for a to do list that would allow me to store references to files within the list so that I could just click on my list and open the file. At first, I settled on Check Off due to its freeware price and great organization. However! After stumbling on the fact that I could drag and drop a file or folder into a to do list item's note field, I was hooked! Not only can I store notes for the things to do, I can simply click on the hyperlink it creates and open the folder or file with ease. Truly a great organizer!
There are a few things to be fixed (labeling a folder labels all its child items for example), but I've seen nothing to prevent it from being used frequently and with gusto!

    "Simple, tidy, effective task management"

Wonderful way to create a persistent, attractive to-do list. This is not for the feature-hungy, but if you just want to be able to add tasks, check them off, and get on with your day, Check Off handles it beautifully.

I have not been able to replicate the data loss issues mentioned below. Through numerous restarts, my to-do list was saved.

Very well designed, the best to-do list software I've used. It will stay on my menu bar for a long time.

Just a tiny detail: the background of the menu bar icon is white, should be transparent.
And another little detail: it should be possible to move an item below a folder without putting it inside the folder.

That's it congrats! Great price too...
