Publisher's description of Charm Solitaire

Charm Solitaire screenshot
From Gamehouse:

Restore the memory of a magical kingdom in this exciting twist on solitaire from the creators of Charm Tale. It is easy to learn and play, but saving the day is another matter altogether. The aim of this game is to place cards on the playing field, so they all turn facedown. The cards are moving along the chain and you should use them before they reach the chain's other end, otherwise you'll lose the game. You may only place cards that are one rank higher or lower than the card on the playing field. When you surround a card with other ones, it turns face down. When all the cards become face down, the level wil be passed.

  • Version reviewed: Charm Solitaire 1

Combining a simple solitaire game with Zuma-like action, Charm Solitaire lives up to its name. Cards rumble in along a chain. You must take these cards before they reach the end of the chain and lay them out in the playing field. Generally you can put a card anywhere adjacent to a card that is one rank higher or lower. Specially marked areas might require, say, only black suits. Some boards also contain a pair of stacks you can build up to king, thus earning a bonus power of your choice. If the normal level is too hard, you can play in no-lose mode, but you won't accumulate points. If normal is too easy, hard speeds up the card chain and eliminates hints.

Mystical graphics and music contribute to the atmosphere. Setup options let you adjust music and sound effects separately, as well as run the game in a window. Installing creates an extra desktop icon that remains after you uninstall. After you install and start the trial, a second installation--of the game graphics--launches. When the one-hour trial ends, you're booted out mid-game. Despite that, card players and puzzle fans should find Charm Solitaire quite involving.
