"Scans drives not being backed up"
Pros: easy to use
Cons: scans files and locations not specified, not just a quick scan but continous reading of files and folders not on the backup list. Tech support ignorant.
Summary: Looking for another product. Need offsite backup, but this company is either doing something it's not supposed to do, or too dumb to explain why it's scanning files not marked for backup, or how to turn it off. read more

"Saves my documents without me"
Pros: I don't have to think about it.
Cons: I am not sure how to use it other than let it do its thing.

"Easy to use; Know that files are being backed up"
Pros: So easy to use. Able to retrieve earlier versions of files if needed.
Cons: Couldn't backup IE Favorites

"Very good hands off backup. Reliable."
Pros: Appears to be reliable. Has decent defaults and its easy to tell it which folders to back up if you don't like that. I've used it to restore files successfully. It runs in the background without interfering with your use of the computer.
Cons: It got stuck on a file once. Had to move the file to get it to recover.
Backing up a lot of files will take a while to do the initial backup, like a couple of weeks. This is inherent in doing cloud-based backup though.Summary: I recommend it for most people.Be aware though that Carbonite does not by default backup programs or system files or videos or a variety of other things that might be big and/or not necessary to back up.
