Version: Carbonite Online Backup 3.6
"easy backup but slow initial one and skips some files"
Pros: once the initial backup is finished - it took some three weeks in my case - it works effortlessly
Cons: unexplainable it does not back up some files even if of small size; there si no backup of applications neither of Microsoft Outlook e-mails nor of browser's favourites and or bookmarks
Summary: leaving files out of the backup forces one to do a step-by-step time consuming process of copying those files in an organized way to some external media; the same applies to applications and e-mail archives. As I understand the situation it does not ... read more

"Exposes your private files to all users!"
Pros: Works well in the background. Does not hog system resources.
Cons: Carbonite exposes ALL your files which are private / not shared to all users via the Carbonite Backup Folder and they cannot offer any solution to this.
Summary: This is a terrible design fault which Carbonite have not dealt with. I have spoken with a range of their staff who just tell me to speak to Microsoft. All Carbonite could advise me was to contact Microsoft at 46 uk pounds a throw!!! I am running Vi... read more

"Backs up ok, restore's another story."
Pros: The backup has worked well for me, and is dead simple. Set and forget.
Cons: Restore kept freezing showing a static number of files downloaded and others waiting - for DAYS! On top of that the interface became unreadable - same type of massage anyone gets when a web page is unreachable.
Summary: Though simple to use, in the end I had to get the files I needed back by using their remote access service via a web page and downloaded them one by one. Will not trust this service again or pay for a new subscription.My advice to everyone is to no... read more

"Restored what I cared about most........."
Pros: Easy to download and does all backups automatically in the background.
Cons: Didn't restore my emails (possibly they were amongst the "corrupted" files??)

"Can't get any easier than this!"
Pros: Install it and forget it. Really, it's that simple.
Cons: For me, this program has zero cons.
