"The best FTP program around"
Version: Captain FTP 2.7
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've been using Captain FTP since 1.4 and have loved it ever since. I've recently upgraded and it's even better. I'm always amazed at how an excellent product can keep getting better and better. The integrated Rendezvous makes file sharing a breeze between by Macs. And what's even better, is the great service the people from Captain FTP provide. Whenever I have a question or problem, it's solved in a jiffy. Great going guys! -
"Never let me down"
Version: Captain FTP 3.0
Summary

I've been using Captain FTP 2.x for a year or so. It has never let me down. I appreciate the steady updates and the addition of new capabilities (such as sftp). The two panel arrangement with my local computer on one side and the remote server on the other is best interface. The provided ability to sort by file name or date or - is an absolute necessity especially with large directories. I just downloaded the 3.0 version and paid the $15 upgrade fee without hesitation (this product is more than worth the $25 purchase price plus the upgrade fee). The new look rocks! My only suggestion is to have a finer file size field (smaller unit) but this is minor. Keep it going, Captain FTP! -

CaptainFTP never lets me down, first he instroduced SFTP pretty early, then this wholly re-designed brushed-metal theme (with enhancements). I'm definately paying teh 15$ to upgrade to 3.0... -

"daily companion"
Version: Captain FTP 2.7
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
As a developer and webmaster of many domains, i've been using Captain FTP since version 1.3.x. As I use it on a daily base, it became a standard app like safari (which is imperfect but lovely), Mail and Disk Utilty. Looks nice and works almost perfect. Just that my first entry always has to be called up twice. Not fixed in this release. -
"Outstanding..."
Version: Captain FTP 2.6.J
Summary

one day has made all the difference. I tried five ftp clients today and although I have seen but one ftp program with a nicer UI (crashes at present), this one performed flawlessly and quickly in placing files onto a hosted server...without one crash. It has the added plus of working with BBEdit flawlessly. Rock solid.
Great UI, unmatched performance.
I purchased this product. -

stable, reliable, fast, well-featured, intuitive, easy-in-use and so on... Captain FTP is state of art! Solid quality from Germany with amazing dutch graphics. I propose to add a Ship-cursor as Fetch has its funny dog and documentation integrate with MacHelp. -
"Great job!"

I use Captain FTP for several months and this is the best FTP Client available for Mac OS X. I'm sorry Dediluka, but you can always tell the software is slow. I think the different between Captain FTP and Transmit is that Captain FTP doesn't require PANIC-Transmit-Optimized network!
Couple weeks ago I was reading speed comparison made by professionals and Captain FTP was on top. What is more funny your loved Transmit wasn't able to make any connections! Are you professional or GOD? -
"Too Slow"
Version: Captain FTP 2.6.J
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I use Transmit. I don't like using Transmit but it's the only one that comes close enough to my old VicomSoft FTP client (even their 4.x version isn't that good.) FTP sucks on Mac OS X. i can't seem to find anything that really meets my needs.
I have tested each version of Captain FTP and I still don't like it. It's nice that you can import your address book, that's nice. However, making connections is real slow and after an upload it reconnected to the server for some reason. I double-clicked on a folder to go to it and it reconnected to the server and left me in the main folder. I had to do it again.
the upload was slow, the download was alright. there's no disconnect button and no keyboard short cut to do so. I had to select disconnect from the menu. I'm not happy with this version.
