Version: Calorie Calculator 1.2
"Doesn't work!"
Cons: I entered 225lb climbing 1000ft at 2mph and 7 percent grade and it calculated 73012 calories! I should be dead!

Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately, I think you are using an older version of Calorie Calculator which had a known bug of converting heat calories to nutritional calories (nutritional calories = heat cals/1000). If you could please download the latest version (Calorie Calc2) you will find that the numbers you entered produce 73 nutritional calories (the value you received is correct for heat calories - a factor of 1000 higher). This number is calculated based on the exact physics of potential energy - you are guaranteed to burn an amount of energy equal to the rise in height of a given mass, and the speed and incline allows the program to determine rate burn. You will probably burn more than 73 calories over this climb, but you are guaranteed to burn at least 73 for the numbers entered.
