"It's a Simple solution for blocking calls you can't tolerate."

    by A-GUN on November 18, 2006

Pros: I like having my own control with calls with CallZap. You can block by full name, partial name, full number or partial number. You can block unkown and private calls too. By the time the first ring has completed, the blocked call will be zapped!

Cons: Although CallZap is a good simple program to use, it could still use some tweaking. You can't leave the program running if you want to connect to the internet via dial-up from a remote computer in your network. You must turn off the program to connect to the internet via dial-up. Then you must remember to turn the program back on when you disconnect from the internet. Another feature I wish CallZap had is... audible alerts/rings (different rings or voices). With audible alerts you could turn off all the ringers on the phones in the house and just turn up the volume on your PC. Plus with a feature like that, you would have more control over incoming calls by allowing only non-blocked calls to ring (it would eliminate the one ring you have to hear for blocked calls). So there, maybe Softwarevolution will put that on their "to do" list.

There's an updated version of CallZap 2.2 available at softwarevolution.com. The update tweaks the program a little more and adds a "pause/resume" feature accessible by right-clicking the program's system tray icon. The new feature makes it Dial-up friendly so you can leave the program running and still connect to the internet. This really is a GREAT program! It should be getting more hits and downloads. Also, if you don't feel like talking to your bill collectors this month, just put their number on the block list and call them back when YOU feel like it, under YOUR terms. I've taken total control with CallZap 2.2, and I love it! One ring, z-z-zap, bwah-bwah-bwah, Hee Hee Ha Ha!
