This program kicks a##!! Im running xp with 5meg cable and I watched a Bittorrent d/l jump from 72 kbs to 107 kbs immediately. almost scary !! I have never written a review before, but this program so impressed me I had to.
Cons
At first a little confusing because xp is grouped with windows 2k when setting it up.

Pros
I was dubious after reading the negative comments on this site - but it's entirely reversible (being as you can back up your settings on the program).
So - I tested my speed before - a good DSL connection of around 2.6
I struggled a little with the interface - but this DOES SUPPORT XP!!! I use XP pro and this is fine. There are updates available on Cablenut's home page.
My speed is around 5.5
That is truly nuts

Can be a little difficult to read at the start - REMEMBER TO FOLLOW THE TEXT IN THE DOWNLADED DOCUMENT.

Pros
I could write PAGES about how usefull Cablenut is. I COULD tell all about how simple it is to install and use. But I'm not going to. Instead, let me give you the short and sweet of it.
Before: 2.8 MB/s connection speed, 168 KB/s download speed....
After: 6.5 MB/s connection speed, 740 KB/s download speed....
Need I say more!?!
(tested on: Dell Optiplex GX1, 550 mhz PIII, Windows98, ethernet connected to cable modem)

"Simple and Effective"

Pros
It takes two minutes to set up and 30 seconds to undo (although I found no reason to). I now have a cable connection that runs at 4mb/sec (T1 speed!).
Cons
Check out the Read Me first as the program does not explain its choice of settings via its interface. A very small inconvenience considering the price - FREE!

It does improve the speed of your internet connection. Maybe not extremely fast but it does improve the speed

No non-sense freeware that does the job. I'm sorry that I personally have to conclude that the guys who rated the product very low and are even warning others not to download and install the product and instead use another product, either have a different agenda or simply do not know what they are doing!
