    "Best MMO ever"

    November 21, 2012  |   By flutteryfilly

    Version: Cabal Online 8.6.3

    Pros

    Easy to play
    Free to play
    Very fun
    Sucks you in
Multiple classes that cater for all sorts of player
    Amazing skill and quest systems
A good mix of dungeons and maps
    Great war system

    Cons

    Some quests are unachievable
Need to play 24/7 to do well
Equipment later in the game is out of reach unless you buy money
Hackers and botters ruin game for the honest players
You are stuck on rubbish maps until LV 95

    Summary

All in all this is an amazingly fun game and I'd recommend it to any person. There are more good things than bad things. The maps maybe a bit dry til you reach the higher levels when the game becomes a lot more interesting. All in all I rate it 4.5 out of 5.

"Pretty good MMO for a free-to-play"

    February 11, 2012  |   By UltimateNetNut

    Version: Cabal Online 8.6.3

    Pros

Nice graphics and gameplay overall. The PvP system usable but you tend to watch the combo-bar instead of the fight. Quests for the higher-levels are lacking (missing?) so you end up grinding a lot after level 130 or so.

Getting a good/active guild will help so you can run some dungeons and maybe get some better gear.

    Cons

As an older game, there are a lot of maxed out players - so if you're not on a non-PK channel, you get hammered. Prices for low and mid level gear isn't too bad - high-end (as expected) is out of reach for quite a while.

    Summary

I've been playing for over a year now and still enjoy it. A good guild (and VoIP) makes the difference.

"Can be additive but it has flaws"

    June 20, 2010  |   By blue_bsod

    Version: Cabal Online 8.6.3

    Pros

Different type of mmorpg that meshes magic with science. Specialized pvp system. Free to play, but with paid accounts they can purchases helpful items or novelty customizations. They crafting, pets and mounts available as well as costumes.

    Cons

Specialized pvp system - combos - Its a con to me because instead of enjoying the fabulous onscreen graphics and action, I'm staring at the combo bar instead so only a 3rd party person can actually watch and enjoy the action.

    Summary

The game used to be hosted through OGPlanet, but they lost their license and the parent company (Korea) decided to host it themselves. Their web address is not the same as the link above, its:

    http://www.cabal.com/main

Also some people's virus scanners detect the game as a trojan virus. Its not a false positive as some people have reported. Its classified as a virus because the game uses a, "themida", to safeguard their files.

A themida is a type of program that masks the activity of another program from the core operating system. It is used by many companies and hackers alike. So though it can be a legit program, it can also be used by hackers to gain full access to your computer. If you disable your virus scanner the program will run fine. It only means you are trusting the game hosting server to not hack your connection.

If you run a virus scanner like McAfee's, you'll need to protect the game EXE files from being detected and deleted. You can do this by creating a passworded ZIP file. To run the game, disable your virus scanner's active scanner, then run the game. If the game fails to load, it means your virus scanner has deleted or quarantined the games files. Using the passworded zip file, unzip the file and re-run the game again. It will load this time if it didn't load the first time.

If you are into crafting as I am, its really a lame crafting system that employs random chance. There are two types of crafting, Professional, and Basic. Each type of crafting is capped with a proof one must complete before they can excel to the next level. The proof at the 4th level requires a chance item to be used to craft the proof item and even then the crafting of the item is based on chance.

Maps are tiny, and dungeons are even worse because they actually have ceilings and you're limited to how far you can zoom out. Often while traversing a dungeon you loose the view because your character is in a narrow passageway but your view is stuck behind a wall, ceiling, or even scenery object like trees. Characters are limited to running at one speed, but can be enhanced with class specific skills or a quick dash skill everyone can learn. A dash is exactly as it is. Its a quick lunge forward at a short distance and requires the use of mana.

For example, if your character is four inches on the screen, then the dash skill provides a distance of approximately 10 inches. Its not far and it has a pause period (re-use timer). Only mages have a teleport (blink) skill which can travel as far as 15 inches in distance, has a much shorter re-use time, but like dash its limited to direct line of sight travel. Meaning you can teleport through walls or objects, you must plot a course around them.

Mounts are boards (hover) and bikes (gravity), and though they look cool and do not use mana at all, they actually travel slower than using dash and blink, but faster than just running. Boards travel above the ground and can not go over low objects and can not be enhanced. Bikes travel higher off the ground and can go over/through some low objects and can be enhanced.

Boards provide various stat bonuses ranging from skill enhancement to hp/mp boosters, while bikes provide defense bonuses only. Also some costumes added stat bonuses, while others are only there for looks.

    Updated on Jun 20, 2010

I mis-typed a word, "can", should be, "can't", in the 5th paragraph: Meaning you can teleport through walls or objects, you must plot a course around them.

It should of read: Meaning you can't teleport through walls or objects, you must plot a course around them.

"Its Awesome and SUCKS 3.5 Stars"

    May 4, 2010  |   By Angmarr

    Version: Cabal Online 8.6.3

    Pros

AMAZING/STUNNING skill graphics ... I mean wow!!! (even without a power videocard)
    Territory wars
Practical higher lvl skill (you unlearn low lvl skills and use higher ones, rather than having to always use low 1 and use higher 1 once in a while)

    Cons

Lvl capped area/map/region (you are FORCED!!! to stay in a certain region until a certain lvl is reached and by that time the STRONGEST monster in that region is a 1 shot kill/BORING)
Region maps are slightly boring because they are narrow pathways

    Summary

Amazing game but because you have to CONSTANTLY stay in a region for 5+ lvl than you should be forced to it gets annoying. Every time you get close to the max lvl of a region all you do is Grind Lame monsters with no Challenge ... AND there is NOTHING you can do.

    Updated on May 4, 2010

When i say maps are boring pathways I mean they look like dungeons ... except they are not as fun because you see trees and stuff around you but you are FORCED to follow the narrow path between them... Not much in terms of exploration.

    March 8, 2010  |   By dmjohnson63

    Version: Cabal Online 8.6.3

    Pros

Keeps me busy, so far. Great people online, always willing to help. Cool characters.

    Cons

    None so far.

    Summary

I really like this game and I've had no problems with it. The only thing I didn't like was the time it took to download. 11 hours for me. But, so far, its definitely been worth it. I am very addicted to this game and can't wait to play it every day.

    "great game"

    October 17, 2009  |   By Babeskitten76

    Version: Cabal Online 8.6.3

    Pros

what is there to say.. if you like MMORPG then you'll like this one.. the Pro about this one is that it truly is only for US and Canada..

    Cons

The false psoitive on virus scanner. Yes, they been having this problem for a pretty long time ....

    Summary

It only is a false positive but never the less i wouldnt take the file of quarantine. I got it in there and run the game that way if something else pops up i know its not because of that file, but it should only be that one file.
