"Can't go wrong with this or CPU-Z. Both do an excellent job."
Pros: Its FREE!
It detects both Intel and AMD processors. Im sure it also detects processors from other companies as well...except PowerPC since those are Mac processors and this is a Windows program. I'd be interested to see how this program behaves on those Intel Mac machines.
Can detects more than just CPU make and model...a BOATLOAD more. RAM...frequency...this...that. I mean it will tell you everything you want to know about your processor, motherboard and RAM. Quite sweet.
Works on all Windows OS's alike...XP, 2000, 98, etc.
Cons: Needs some little popup hints here and there. So much of the information you will never understand, unless you take the time to research each term. I dont feel like doing that, thus the request for some popup hints.
Most of the information you will never use since you will never know what it refers to.
The interface is pretty fair...windows 98'ish. Both WCPUID and CPU-Z suffer from this horrible old interface. They both need an XP-refresh.

Version: CPU-Z 1.32
Pros: It's very informative, it's a small download, and the information it gives you is very complete and useful for troubleshooting. (I really don't understand why the Editors only gave it 4*s-- but they have a horrible habit of giving too many stars or (in this case) not enough!) I always find myself going back to this program any time I have a problem with compatibility or if I want to see if my computer meets the requirements for a program install or hardware add-on. I find this program very useful-- a must-have for anyone who likes to DIY computer issues.
Cons: Anyone who doesn't have a lot of experience with computer hardware might give this a low rating, because it's a piece of software used for some very technical troubleshooting. Trust me, the program isn't overly complicated if you know what you're doing. (If you're inexperienced and think it's too technical, just look it up on Wikipedia.org-- it always worked for me!)

"Tells you about things you never knew existed"
Pros: I like learning. Yeah. This program tells you things about your computer you probably didn't even know exisited. It also let me know that I have two memory slots, something I tried to find out on Gateway's website and could no locate. Now I know I can add more RAM, which is a good thing.
Cons: There are a bunch of blank boxes. I'm suppose they just don't apply to my computer. Not really a con, but see with it as you will.
