"USE AT OWN RISK AND YOUR SYSTEMS RISK"
Version: CNET TechTracker app 1.0
Pros
LOOKS GOOD SOUNDS GOOD
Cons
BEWARE NOT GOOD
Summary
It tells that there are updates and lists them; however I tried 3 of the indicated updates and rebooted. On all three reboots my system rebooted in system restore with the message that computer could not boot because of a problem with windows. When I went to the various sites for thier updates Ireceived a message that the indicated software was up to date. I am removing the piece of junk before actually damages my system. User beware CNET may not be as through as they claim even though I have been a user of thier services for years.

"CNET, you are this [ ] close!"
Version: CNET TechTracker app 1.0
Pros
Quick access to updates once the scanner identifies one.
Cons
The scanner routinely tells me some of my software is out of date even though I have the latest version. Also, sometimes the updates listed are not what you get when you download them.
Summary
I like the idea of the scanner but it still needs to work on its accuracy for me to endorse it.

"Disappointed in CNET. I have always trusted them."
Version: CNET TechTracker app 1.0
Pros
Well...after reading these reviews I can see CNET doesn't pull bad reviews.
Cons
I downloaded this but haven't installed. After reading these reviews, its getting deleted instead of installed. I AM DISAPPOINTED IN CNET, I HAVE BEEN USING THEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND HAD THE UTMOST TRUST IN THEM. Guess I better review that trust!!

"CNET installs other programs on your computer TOO"
Version: CNET TechTracker app 1.0
Pros
None at all
Cons
CNET decided it had the right to install OTHER software on my computer when I DLed their Tech Tracker.
Mysteriously Open Candy & Xobni
You guys have NOT RIGHT to do that.Summary
After CNET bought www.chowhound.com & they deleted a long review I did for a restaurant without even telling me why, I stopped trusting them.
I even tried to contact customer support on the Chowhound site, & then call the so called woman in charge Jane Goldman, & she ignored my call. I should have remembered this, but had forgotten.
As far as I'm concerned, CNET is NOT to be trusted!

"All positive reviews must be from cnet staff."
Version: CNET TechTracker app 1.0
Pros
A good idea.
Cons
Doesn't work, Filehippo's app blows this away.
Summary
Your cnet! fix it!
I have "uninstalled" tech tracker via the new uninstall option and guess what, it's still on my computer. It's telling me to update software I don't have (for a price) and directing me to websites to give my money. Do not download this unless you like a problematic software app. I should have used my better judgement and listened to others reviews. Shame on Cnet for a "commercial" for pay for software. This really could have been a nice app.

"obtrusive and annoying"
Version: CNET TechTracker app 1.0
Pros
nothing good about it.
Cons
obtrusive and annoying bar on cnet that you can minimize but cannot get rid of. Very disappointed in cnet that they're taking this approach to push this service on people who are not interested.
Summary
long time cnet reader lost due to annoying marketing tactics. obtrusive and annoying bar on cnet that you can minimize but cannot get rid of. Very disappointed in cnet that they're taking this approach to push this service on people who are not interested.

"It appears to work as advertised"
Version: CNET TechTracker app 1.0
Pros
Provides constant reminders of what software needs to be updated
Cons
Having to go to cnet's website to see my software list. Hence, I uninstalled it. The list gets longish, when you include all of the updates that are paid software versions you already know about.
Summary
An interesting program, that does the job it is intended to do. I am sure I have not looked deepl enough into it, to see where you maybe can customize to only report on sw you are interested in. A bit annoying to me was to have to go to an external website to see all of my software listings. I would have preferred to see that managed internally to my PC.

"A Downloader's Best Friend."
Version: CNET TechTracker app 1.0
Pros
I admit I love downloading and trying out new software. Then when I finally find an app that gets along with me and my operating system, I stick to it. I love not having to check for updates and always having the newest version.
Cons
None, whatsoever. Batting a 1000 so far.
Summary
Tech tracker is great. It does it all without any help, and then gives you the links to upgrade, as someone said.

"It as Problems"
Version: CNET TechTracker app 1.0
Pros
It looks good.
Cons
I have tried this product 3 times now and it still keeps telling me some products are out of date when they obviously are not.
Summary
Good try C-net but still needs some work Filehippo do a tiny similar program that does the job better.
