"If you've got 2 brain cells to rub together, Look no further to Burn CDs"
Pros: I have a Samsung ($10) surplus CDR recorder on my old Pentium 300Mhz.
I installed this and burned a CD in 5 minutes! Installation was totally automatic. The user interface is simple as pie. Best of all, it's free!
Cons: If you're a total technophobe, go ahead and spend lots of money for handholding from Dorksquad and M$ (or whomever), just to record a CD. For the rest of us, GNU GPL software like CdrTools is heaven sent.

Version: CDR Tools Front End 1.4
Pros: I've only burned about 3 cd's before, (and found it quite hard to do), but found this easy to install, use, and there's no spyware or other garbage in it. It works great with Win98SE on my Philips DVD/CD burner. I got it cos my copy of Nero Ultra got corrupted, so just wanted some quick way of safeguarding my data. Fantastic - AND FREE :) Perhaps not for an absolute beginner, but there is help, read it carefully, you should manage. You can also do a test run without writing to disk to check you're doing it right.
Cons: Only fiddly bit was if i saved the disk as an image first - when i went to write the image to a CD it didn't see it until i went to 'all files' rather than 'image files'. But that's the only quibble.

Version: CDR Tools Front End 1.4
Summary: In an age when you canÂ?t even trust what youÂ?re not installing spyware/malware/keyloggers, this program has been a godsend. True enough there is very little hand holding, and itÂ?s not monkey proof, but once you get the hang of it, not only does i... read more >>

Version: CDR Tools Front End 1.4
"Free and Effective, but poor GUI"
Pros: This product was free in price, free from advertising, and performed as promised. Hats off to the developers for making this software freely available to the general public.
Cons: The only reason I didn't give the product 5 stars was because of the GUI. Although I was able to quickly get to work, a user new to disc burning software might not know how to proceed.
