CNET Editors' review
Though this multifaceted burning tool won't win any beauty awards, it has almost everything Windows users need to create CDs and DVDs. One of the most glaring needs for Windows XP users is a DVD burner, and CDBurnerXP Pro fits the bill well. Despite a slightly confusing interface, this freeware tool should not disappoint users who take the time to familiarize themselves with its functionality.
The core of the program's feature set consists of three main tasks, which are prompted via a wizard upon start-up: writing data CDs and DVDs, creating CDs for audio playback, and ripping music from CDs or editing ID3 tags. Canceling the wizard results in a rather blank blue screen with only a few selections in the toolbar. In order to work on a new project, you'll need to select one of the options, which can be brought back via the "New document" icon in the upper left. Unfortunately, you can't even open an existing project without selecting one of the wizard options first.
The program supports both burnproof and on-the-fly disc writing, as well as bootable ISO files, but it cannot burn double-layer DVDs, a feature promised for version 3.5, which is currently in alpha development. While it may take users some time to learn how to use it effectively, CDBurnerXP Pro is a competent tool and a great value.

"MAKES BOOT DISKS!!!"
Version: CDBurnerXP 4.0.022.370
Pros
This product has only failed me once. It makes boot disks without a hitch, rips ISOs with no file size limits.
Cons
Failed just once, the first time I used it. Im glad I didn't give up on this product.
Summary
Making boot disks was all I was interested in. I have not tried any DVD media.
Te one time it failed may have been due to operator ignorance.
ALL CD media I have since tried has worked as expected. -
"Simply The Best"
Version: CDBurnerXP 4.0.022.370
Pros
After easy installation I got no error(s), no missing drive(s) and no other problem(s). CDburnerXP has exact 100% reliable data, copy and adding files burning. Don't forget to have Microsft .Net Framework 2.0 installed before you install CDburnerXP. I now have version 4.1.2.694 via his website on my XPSP3 HP computer and I am surprisingly very enthusiast and very satisfied about CDburnerXP, which also burns DVD's, Blu-Ray discs and HD-DVD's for Operating Systems: 2K, XP, 2003Server and Vista. I was a Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 fan, but because of incompatibility with Internet Explorer 7 I had to find an other burning program and I am glad to have taken the risk.

"great program, but NOT for DVD-Video"
Version: CDBurnerXP 4.0.022.370
Pros
Pros - It's very easy to navigate and use, fast, reliable, FREE with no adware. It's Great
Cons
Cons - It will NOT burn DVD-Video structured disks. So if you ripped a movie, created one with some other software, copied it from another DVD this program will allow you to burn it, but it will not be playable to most DVD players out there. The company suggests that version 4, does it. I've got a pile of useless video DVDs that prove them wrong. I've tried burning DVD video with the UDF file system, but NOPE it did not work either (udf is the standard for dvd players) The dvds will work fine on my pc, but not on a DVD player.
