"Unimpressed - Didn't find my files and confusing to use"

    April 19, 2006  |   By i_ching

    Version: CD Data Rescue 2.5

    Cons

Failed to find a single kB of my data, and has a confusing interface. Certainly wouldn't pay for it on this basis. Try CD Recover which is free (unlike this program).

    "Saved my bacon"

    May 11, 2005  |   By ddcarroll

    Version: CD Data Rescue 2.0

    Pros

Actually rescued file names, their directories and sub-directories. Much better than BadCopyPro which assigned it's own sequence number to all files and completely lost directory information -- perhaps my fault?

    Cons

A little hard to get started but then it rescued every file on my "blank" CDRW. Wish it cost less, but guess it was worth it.

"Recovers data but not one the 1st programs you should try."

    December 31, 2004  |   By dellyfry

    Version: CD Data Rescue 2.0

    Summary

CD Data Rescue does indeed work but the program interface appears a little confused in many places. It also has an annoying habit on being a little slow and crashing a lot.

Still, it is a worthwhile look if you are trying to recover some data from CD media. There are better programs out there however, such as BadCopy Pro.

    "Perfect Recovery in one shot!"

    October 16, 2004  |

    Version: CD Data Rescue 2.0

    Summary

I have version 2.3 of CD Data Rescue, downloaded last night, running WinXP on a 3GHz HP Pavillan, and used the HP DVD/CD burner/reader that came with the system.

I had 2 CD's with vacation pictures on them that were a mess, you could see all the folders and file names, but could not view or copy them with anything, just see the directory.

I tried several recovery tools before this one, and none of them worked, most were so crippled you could not tell if it would work or not for you.

This not only worked, but it gave me a pre-view of what it recovered, in my case it was easy, the preview was a photo and in the trial version, I could see the picture.

It had a ton of other features I have not tried since the way it installed, worked out of the box. It looks like it can approach recovery from a number of ways, one of these days I might read the manual and find out what all those other options do...

Then to my surprise, when I went to buy it, they have a 100% money back deal, if you can't get back what you bought it to get back, for any reason, they refund your money, the only condition is that you give them a shot a helping you recover it, if they can't help you, then you get your money back.

So I bought it, registration was a breeze and secure, and had a full copy in minutes.

Without so much as reading the help, much less the manual, I just started clicking away at what looked like you needed to do, the learning curve was virtually nothing.

I got back all the pictures from both CD's, over 300 jpg's. I can't say how it will work for others, but with a risk free buying option combined with how easy it was to use, and mainly how effective it was, I would easily recommend it to anyone.

    "It's a scam."

    May 16, 2004  |

    Version: CD Data Rescue 2.0

    Summary

Program pretends to have rescued a file, but won't let you know for sure unless you purchase. So, you could buy only to discover that it didn't do the job.

    "Only as good as CD-ROM"

    February 14, 2004  |

    Version: CD Data Rescue 2.0

    Summary

This program can't access your CDROM in a special way, it only accesses it by requesting information from it and waiting for a reply, just as Windowz do.
It's only as good as your CDROM drive! Mine is a LiteOn52x.
    1st start of program: okay
2nd start of program: bad > bluescreen VxDs (winME OStype w/updates)
3rd start of program: Sys reboot!
Navigation within software GUI: Bad (if you don't read the helpfiles)
Quickstart helpguide navigation: difficult (for impatient people)
    GUI screen: Very Attractive!
    Overall: 67%

"Waited over 9 hours and still found nothing"

    October 12, 2003  |

    Version: CD Data Rescue 2.0

    Summary

I know that there is data on my cd. I was able to pull some of it off. But when I ran this utility to get my much needed emails and photos, it didn't find a thing on the CD and the program ran for over 9 hours...I do not recommend this.
