This audio application proves you can't always judge a book by its cover. As you might guess, CD Copy rips discs into a number of audio formats, including MP3, WAV, WMA, and AAC. The program's cluttered, poorly designed interface is definitely its weakest point. For instance, the large blue button that appears to start the ripping process actually takes you to the developer's Web site. To extract tunes, you have to dig through the menu items. Resetting the destination directory of our new files also was a tedious process. The program supposedly can grab track information from the Web, but we never figured out how to configure it to do so; most rippers can retrieve this data automatically.
The good news comes in the form of extra, unexpected features. For starters, the program can normalize all files immediately after ripping them. We like the basic but useful tool for creating CD sleeves, as well as the playlist generator. You can even convert files among WMA and MP3 formats. As a ripper, the program wasn't exactly speedy, but it got the job done with no snags. If you're willing to invest a little time, you'll find that CD Copy offers more than meets the eye.
Publisher's description
From Barth Markus :CD Copy enables you to copy audio tracks from your CD player onto your hard disk using an ASPI (Advanced SCSI Programming Interface) or a Win32 interface. Files can be saved in the WAV, AU, RAW, Yamaha VQF, RealAudio, and MPEG (Layers 1 and 2) formats. Files also can be saved in the MP3 format using L3Enc, XingMPEG Encoder, or similar software. Other features include batch file generation, CDDB support, and the ability to combine several tracks into one file. This version features RA-G2 decompression and CDR writing, RA-Surestream format, automatic playlist generation, MPMan and MPlayer3 support, and a few bug fixes.

Version: CD Copy 4.95
Summary: Simple and straight forward in making copies in many formats. Works where other programs may not. Have used with good success and would recommend. $20.00 price tag is a bargain for this program with all it's capabilities.
