Version: CCleaner 1.28.277
"The best period"
Pros: This is the best and most effective registry editing tool available.I have used it for about 6 months with no problems.
It cleans not only the tracks from basically all your popular apps, but more importantly cleans the junk left behind after installing and uninstalling apps which will speed up your pc!
It also allows you to create a back up in case you delete something that you shouldn't have(not likely).
Cons: None.....
Back your registry up for first use and if something goes wrong simply double click the back up and it installs it like new.Magic!
I should note it never deleted anything it shouldn't have though.

I say "registry editing" because that's the catagory and generally it's put with other registry editing tools.
Your right though you can't manually go into the registry and edit.It's more of a registry cleaner then an editor.You can however change certain things in your registry by going to the tools tab.Making it a reg editor sort of.

Ccleaner cleans junk from the hard drive as well as from the registry, but it is in no way a registry editing tool!
