It is more a thorough cleaner that either Windows XP Disk Clean-Up or deleting your Browser's history. And do NOT overlook the Uninstall Hotfix option which deletes the uninstall programs for Microsoft Windows Updates ... after you make sure the Security updates are working and don't have to be backed out (rare these days).
The Registry cleaner is supposedly "light" so it gets rid of obvious junk without jeopardizing the operation of your PC.Cons
Always Uncheck appropriate boxes to avoid installing any unwanted software.
The Registry cleaner leaves some junk behind ... and even though I save the changes I am not sure with what to do with them if I ever had a problem.Summary
SUMMARY
1) Clean up your Hard Disk Drive C: (especially remove old and/or unused programs) including TRIAL software.
2) Consider more storage capacity (external HDD & DVD-RW); and make back-ups on a regular basis.
3) Update Windows with critical security fixes monthly and protect your PC against malicious software and hackers.
4) Then after all of the clean up is done, defragment your HDD - perhaps with Auslogics....
5) Finally, install more RAM (memory)to improve your PCs performance. -

I personally have not encountered any drawbacks in my use of CC.
Summary
Even though I have multi-tasking programs, and single task units, I still want CC on my desktop because I know it will find the 'c**p' if needed; others are setup so to be cautious and at times appear too timid to list certain products but CC doesn't mind, they list it all.
