    "5.0 is a bust"

    December 9, 2014  |   By Eric Thordvalson

    Version: CCleaner 5.00.5050

    Pros

None but i still give CCleaner5 stars based on prior experience.

    Cons

SLOW!!!!! Ugly, Erased all my custom folders to be cleaned with update.

So slow that the individual folders could be read, not flashing through them as normal.

Worst of all contained malicious code in my download. Malwarebytes found this:

    Registry Keys: 2
    Security.Hijack, HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENTVERSION\IMAGE FILE EXECUTION OPTIONS\CCleaner.exe, Quarantined, [e47e213fc6b61422195dc542897be11f],
    Security.Hijack, HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432NODE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENTVERSION\IMAGE FILE EXECUTION OPTIONS\CCleaner.exe, Quarantined, [74ee124eec9089adbbbb8681ed17b24e],

It took hours to finally remove CC5.0 and restore my computer. A horrid experience.

    Summary

I love CCleaner. Pinaform, Restore the previous edition and I promise to buy the premium package. (When it's on sale.)

"Messes up windows 8, 8.1, 8.1.2 very nicely"

    December 8, 2014  |   By DakotaSpirit

    Version: CCleaner 5.00.5050

    Pros

I can not right now think of any pro's as far as windows 8 is concerned.

    Cons

It made a royal mess of my computer, I have given up on it and will never use it again, this is the second time it has done that, I am not dumb am doing for the third.

    Summary

While I think they use to be a excellent program it is not in my opinion any longer. It just does not like windows 8 at all unless something happened and a miracle became a reality. Just doing simple things with it, (not the registry) like clearing cache or files I no longer needed, it must have done something else and I have to complete redo my computer twice. No more, good bye CCleaner!

"Still works but looks like cr@p"

    December 2, 2014  |   By bubbastien

    Version: CCleaner 5.00.5050

    Pros

    still functions the same

    Cons

New win8 style GUI looks like cr@p in win7, flat, too bright and missing the normal top right buttons for close, minimize, etc.

Since v4.8 it is installing background processes to check free space and to update in the background.

    No new features added

The screenshots below are from an old version prior to them trashing the GUI.

    Summary

First line in the what's new section should say "New win8 GUI" because it is not improved in any way whatever, it's much worse.

Looks horrible, adds background tasks I don't want or need, I certainly don't want any automatic updates after this disaster of an update, the win8 gui doesn't really work in win7.

Don't bother with this disaster, I'd recommend downloading v4.7 and staying with that until they fix the GUI.

    Updated on Dec 2, 2014

The version I suggest people download for now 4.17, not 4.7 as I previously stated.

"UGLY UI - Trying to copy M$ Metro look and it's bad."

    December 1, 2014  |   By georgermct

    Version: CCleaner 5.00.5050

    Pros

Engine in the background is the same.

    Cons

User Interface leaves a lot to be desired.
Using a higher DPI in Windows Vista makes the whole thing look like it was made in MS paint, it's all choppy with no smooth edges in text and images.
    Wost update ever.

    Summary

Either we should have the option for "Classic" UI or CCleaner should wait until Windows 10 comes alone and copy that look because NO ONE likes Windows 8 or 8.1 ugly flat look.
With all the power of today's computers, why make the graphics boring and lifeless.
A step backwards if you ask me.

"safest product for this kinda stuff"

    November 9, 2014  |   By ChoiceVoice

    Version: CCleaner 4.19.4867

    Pros

-safe to use. gives a good cleaning.
-registry scanner has never caused any problems with any of my machines over the last decade.
    -registry restore works perfectly.
-has built in uninstaller (so works like revo, uninstall and then use it to do a registry scan for leftovers).
    -easy to use
    -good company
-expandable to be more comprehensive (google it)
    -portable version available

    Cons

-i'm hearing its adding a startup by other reviewers (i hate that). i use the portable version, and it doesn't. otherwise, just remove startup in settings and turn off scheduled scan. or use winpatrol to change it and monitor it.
-reg scan could dig deeper (but then it wouldn't be as safe). use this for maintenance, and use wise registry cleaner for a deeper/occational peek.

    Summary

excellent product. always has been and continues to be.

"Great program except the mis-leading pop-up notice"

    November 9, 2014  |   By moodlebrook

    Version: CCleaner 4.19.4867

    Pros

This program has been with me for years and has helped me to get rid of unwanted un-dead space.

    Cons

Other, more comprehensive programs will do about the same for you

    Summary

It does what it promises really well; however, depending on what other software you run, it might not be really necessary for you. If you want to make sure you're not wasting that disk space (more important now since I went SSD) CCleaner is well-worth the space it takes. The nag pop-ups in the latest free version are a serious turn-off, though and it might make me reconsider my position.
