"Excellent tool for generation of ASP.NET applications"
Version: CAT Accelerator 1.5
Pros
We are a software development company that uses dotNet technology as the main development platform and we had a project that required the use of a Rapid Development tool. We looked around and found several generic rapid development tools that are able to generate code for different platforms. Unfortunately, those tools were constrained by the common functionality available in the different platform. We wanted a tool that was able to take advantage of the new features of ASP.NET 2.0 and that offered commitment to new functionality to come in future releases of ASP.NET.
We found CAT Accelerator to be the tool that satisfied our requirements. The features that we liked are:
1) It creates code that conforms with Microsoft Best Practices.
2) The code generated is well documented.
3) It uses the latest features of ASP.NET
4) It has several areas called CAT Preservation Regions where we are able to put our own code and it is preserved through the re-generation of the files.
5) It has new controls as pop-ups and trees to populate fields.
6) The security and tayloring of the pages is a very simple and logic process.
7) The final user is able to change some of the conditions without having to re-generate the code.
We do not hesitate on recommending CAT Accelerator for the generation of ASP.NET Applications.

"Definitely ?Best of Breed? for .Net Code Generation"
Version: CAT Accelerator 1.5
Pros
All I can say about this product is
"What an excellent piece of work"
I have found nothing else like it currently available within the .Net environment.
It will take your normalised database and QUICKLY generate a fully functioning and useful Web Application in just a few keystrokes. And when I say a fully functioning, I am talking about something that you could give to your users.
It is possible to reduce months of work down to days by employing the powerful features that this product give you
The Main features that I really like are:
During the Generation Phase you have a lot of control of the final generated result, you have access to many attributes that will dictate how the various GUI controls will work, and you can also exploit a number of the AJAX features that are currently in vouge.
Once the code is generated and running there is:
A menu Structure that is easily managed, i.e. New Items can be added, Menu Items can be rearranged
Built in asp_Membership for assignment of users
Built in Roles Management so that Pages and Menu Items can be locked down to nominated roles
Ability to change Labels, Look and Feel, display formats, columns displayed, etc, etc, etc.
The finished application follows the usual List/View/Edit theme that most users are familiar with so training the user how to use the running application should be an easy task.
I highly recommend this product.

"Amazing productivity for .Net applications using the CAT Accelerator"
Version: CAT Accelerator 1.5
Pros
When Catalytic Software asked us to be an early adaptor of the Cat Accelerator we thought we needed to put it through its paces with a real application requirement.
We had a need to build an application for managing SMSFs (Self Managed Super Funds). After conducting the requirements analysis, we developed the data base design and found that it contained 62 tables. This application would be a significant size to build if we hand coded it (3-6+ months of development).
On the first time through, it took us 2 days to generate the application version as we were learning how to use. But in 2 days we had something to show to users to test the validity of requirements.
Having learnt the tool, we overlayed our model based development methodology (GRID) on CAT Accelerator to allow fast cycle iterative development.
Because of some issues with a Vista upgrade we had to completely rebuild our test machine for CAT accelerator. This resulted in scrapping all our previous work including the CAT Accelerator generated code, the SQL Server and the SQL data bases. We needed to reinstalled SQL, and the CAT Accelerator.
In just one day?s effort, using model based development approach, we created a new database, populated it with test data, and used the CAT accelerator to generate a new application and deployed it to the web server. WOW!!!
Having had this experience, we decided to see how far we could go without writing code. Using Cat Accelerator, Reporting Services and SQL Integration Services, we were able to develop a Web application that imported data from external applications and provided the necessary reports without hand crafting writing a single line of C# code. Amazing productivity!
