Version: CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2009
"Boss Hoggg"
Pros: I haven't gotten a virus since I installed it.
Cons: It slows down the boot on my desktop (c2dE6600, WinXPpro 32bit, 2GB, Raptor 150) by more than 30 seconds. It absolutely DESTROYS performance on my new Netbook -boot takes <30 seconds without CA installed, over three minutes with.
Summary: On netbook, Windows explorer either crashes or lags for several minutes (really, what's the difference?) if real-time protection is on. Turning it off makes browsing network files at least possible, but that's no protection at all. This thing came free with Time Warner Cable Road Runner -which is awesome service- but I'll take Comodo for the same price over this bloated sack of protoplasm any day. I had major networking problems when I set it up and trouble shot the thing for several days before I found out that CA has to be lowered to a pretty silly level of insecurity in order to have simple file sharing work at all. It also hurts performance enough on my desktop when browsing files on or off the network that I am just getting rid of it in favor of some (other) free AV/firewall solution.

I thank users for taking their time to post their experiences with these softwares. Its unfortunate, too many reviews of Download.com are in contrast, completely opposite compared to those of actual users. And it is the reviews of users that I have come to rely on.
A friend recently signed up with Optimom on Line and need a security software. I was about to recommend CA which is freely provided to Optimon customers. However, I decided to come here first and read the reviews. I am happy I did, they are not good and I will not recommend CA.
So, to the users of softwares available on Download.com, please continue to post your experiences with these softwares, along with your overall reviews. Many like myself depend on your reviews.
