    "Won't authorize"

    March 15, 2011  |   By jbtvt

    Version: Buyertools Reminder 1.8.1.0

    Pros

Keeps your auction items in a handy spot onscreen for you to watch, alarm function works

    Cons

Auto-bid, and import features will not work. Supposed to authorize BTR on Ebay, I have many times, and it even shows up as authorized in my account preferences, but BTR will not recognize that it is authorized, and will not bid.

    Summary

Sniping doesn't work, which is all I care about. Pretty much a waste of HD space.

"Works maybe 50% of the time."

    March 18, 2010  |   By eaceac1

    Version: Buyertools Reminder 1.8.1.0

    Pros

It's free. Doesn't cost anything. The price is right.

    Cons

Spend time looking for just the right item on ebay, set it up for snipe, walk away from computer, come back only to see the auction ended and item sold for way less than you would have paid becuase the program errored out.

    Summary

This program would be fantastic if it worked. I emailed the company from their website for assistance and received NO reply. I have actually sat in front of the computer, watched the program try and bid and then fail ... numerous times. I hate sniping through 3rd party websites and wish there was a good a program that would just work from my PC and bid on ebay just as if I did it myself. This is not the program. (Though I wish it was)

    "Great for standard eBay items"

    September 14, 2009  |   By tcihil

    Version: Buyertools Reminder 1.8.1.0

    Pros

    Good interface, works well.

    Cons

Not as intuitive as it could be.

    Summary

Buyertools worked well for me with a regular eBay item, saving me time and money. I'm not usre if they updated the program yet, but it used to not work at all on eBay Autos, where al lot auto-related items are listed.

    Updated on Sep 14, 2009

eBay Motors is the correct marketplace for which Buyertools apparently still does not work.

"Great idea - not so hot implementation - lousy support"

    July 4, 2008  |   By JMM

    Version: Buyertools Reminder 1.8

    Pros

There is a lot to like about this software - Customize columns, Group feature, Calendar - shows when the various watching/bidding items are ending, Send reminders to your phone.

Sadly all of the really cool features are offset by one really lousy problem. It seems that ALL of the items disappear from the screen. To see them or work with them, you have to close the program and reload it....EVERY time. In a 30 minute session of looking around, I had to restart it 5 times.

    Cons

This problem was reported in the author's support forum August 2007 As of October 2007 there was limited communication with the original poster and still no resolution. Here it is in July of 2008 and I am having the same problem. Apparently nothing further has been done on resolving this issue. This is totally unacceptable....even for free software.

"Fairly easy-to-use & navigate auction bidder freeware."

    March 1, 2007  |   By reinmayker

    Version: Buyertools Reminder 1.5.8.3

    Pros

I've looked for several years to find a good freeware version of an auction bidder like one that I used to have. This one finally fit the bill for me. It's not too hard to learn and navigate. It places accurate and timely bids. It tracks current auctions and stores past ones.

    Cons

It does chew some energy from your system as things sometimes seem to move more slowly. It also has what I see for me as useless features in a daily planner and to-do list.

"Lots of features, not too responsive"

    February 23, 2007  |   By Yiuhoo!

    Version: Buyertools Reminder 1.5.8.3

    Pros

I've tried many eBay bidding/sniping tools, like Snipemonkey, Auction Sentry, AuctionNavigator etc. Each programs has their pros and cons. I find Buyertools Reminder offers of best features of all.

    Cons

The program uses a lot of your system resources. Especially the I/O throughput becomes high and so does the CPU usage. It makes the your computer slower and the program not too responsive from time to time. It gets worse if you have more autobids running. The maker of Buyertools Reminder have acklowledged this on their forum december 2005. Unfortunately development seems to have stopped lately.

"Brilliant once you know how to get it working."

    October 8, 2006  |   By cnet69

    Version: Buyertools Reminder 1.5.8.3

    Pros

Before this many times in past I put in my bid last few seconds but was outbid..impossible I thought, but now I know why. Maybe morally its cheating but this is accurate and has won me every bid I have used it on. It kicks in ten seconds before end with your maximum bid not allowing (I assume)time to get outbid. Also the fact you can leave it to bid for you whilst you're away (and will shut down your computer after the dirty deed is done) I have found very useful, as bids often finish when I'm at work. I can safely trust this free software to win any bid I use it for (so far). Reminder calender is fantastic feature & it looks good on desktop. Also no horrible add-ons that you have to include in download.

    Cons

Lots of text to read through, difficult to understand. I just clicked the buttons and figured it out in no time though. Instructions look complex but the pros far outweigh the cons.
