"Strange reviews of this product"
Version: Business-in-a-Box 2008
Pros
Nothing yet; I was offered the BIAB Lite version and was looking for reviews to gauge whether or not it could be useful in my business. I came here to read what appeared to be multiple reviews.
Cons
The first thing that's turned me off to this product is the required installation of a program, which is understandable but still a negative. The second is coming to a review site and seeing the reviewers and their reviews. The third is the price of $249.
Summary
So I started reading the reviews here on CNet and found that all of the good reviews I looked at were from reviewers that signed up JUST TO REVIEW BIAB AND NOTHING ELSE. One review each from approximately a dozen reviewers. Very suspicious. I'm not going to support a company that appears to utilize fake reviews.

"disallussioned"
Version: Business-in-a-Box 2008
Pros
love the fact that it has all these generic templates that a business can possibly use and that it wasn't too difficult to edit them to what you need them to be. I had two documents that I wanted to test drive. started fine until (see con)
Cons
"free" what? just to view and maybe edit? i like the product until it came to the point of wanting to print it. the "what you see is what you get on" any software doesn't mean that what is on the screen will translate to paper. I thought that at least that portion of the trial would be included. it is with most other "trials" especially for the cost.
Summary
the "upgrade" popup was very annoying. still wondering what part of it is free (to view *****?. yes, i could edit but again what good was it if i couldn't get a hard copy to review. i can understand some of functions not being available until you buy but not being able to print, come on guys! even microsoft has some functional templates you can download that are free, ediable, and you CAN PRINT.

"AWESOME! bought 1 week after trying demo"
Version: Business-in-a-Box 2008
Pros
provides exactly what is says it will provide, great quality templates!
Cons
none so far, I'm very satisfied
Summary
I own a small consulting biz and this tool has already helped me land 1 contract and I bought it last week! Just wanted to say thanks and it's a shame that some not so bright people are posting these libelous comments. It's a demo folks, that means the templates aren't yours until you buy them because the software is not free! But at least you can see all the templates before buying. I even started editing my proposal, a great one by the way, befoe buying and then when I bought the pro edition I saved all my changes in a Word file. It Worked like a peach. Don't listen to these

"Thisnsoftware is a scam. Do not purchase!"
Version: Business-in-a-Box 2008
Pros
they promise that they have a trial period and a 30 day money back guaranty.
Cons
The trial download does not let you see many of the templates and they continual prompt you to purchase the product key. Once the purchase has been made, no refunds are ever made.
Summary
this is a scam. There is not refunds and the product cannot be reviewed in a trial mode.

"OLD VERSION CEASED TO WORK AUTOMATICALLY"
Version: Business-in-a-Box 2008
Pros
Has templates
Cons
you cannot export templates and lacking all of the function with Word.
Summary
I bought my software over an year ago. Found most of the templates very generic, but I was still ok with making up my version of the letters. For over 4 months it has been asking me to pay more to upgrade which I had not done so, since I do not feel that it would be of any benefit to me.
This morning when I started the program NONE of the files, mine or the templates, were functional.
I called tech support, the lady is not very knowledgeable. She told me to uninstall the program and get the new one.
This to me is forced buy -
"great great stupendous great"
Version: Business-in-a-Box 2008
Pros
I use Biztree Business in a Box to write many kinds of business documents and it has literally saved me tons of time. The templates are sophisticated and accurate, a great starting point to work from rather than writing contracts etc from scratch.
Cons
Excellent software!
Summary
I'm amazed how often this software has come to my rescue since I became a user in Sept 2010. I recommend Business in a Box to all of my friends and associates.

"Exceptional business tool"
Version: Business-in-a-Box 2008
Pros
Easy to use and fast to install software. 1500 templates address every business situation, convention or contract you could possibly require. Thanks to this writing tool my work is 99% done before I even start. It even fills in the blanks.
Cons
Template software integrates with Word and iWork, not integrated with design software; limited design.
Summary
Really brilliant product. I highly recommend it as a helpful resource to keep on hand any time you need to issue a communication or draft a contract. I've demoted my lawyer to a proofreader and saved a lot of money.

"Why didn't I find this software earlier!?"
Version: Business-in-a-Box 2008
Pros
don't need to write anymore!
Cons
can't find a way to add my logo
Summary
I bought before heading to the CES show earlier this month and didn't have time to use it until I got back.. but boy was I glad I did because I made lots of contacts in Las Vegas and when the time came to send follow up letters and proposals, the Business in box had me covered. I also needed a partnership agreement and all I did was search for 'partner' and bam there it was! I just realized it's also got loads of financial spreadsheets so forget about needing your accountant to draft up fancy reports (sorry Craig, how are the kids? ;)

"Still on honeymoon! Bought one month ago and I LOVE IT!"
Version: Business-in-a-Box 2008
Pros
Great customer service saved the day when I originally I made a dupe purchase not realizing I would get 3 product keys, I was refunded and there was no issue getting a refund. Cinch to install, I literally double-clicked & pasted an activation code.
Cons
haven't discovered any cons yet.
Summary
I literally had an A-ha moment when I played around in the demo version, looked at all the templates. It gave me exactly what I needed. This has been more productive for my business than my Chamber of Commerce membership. I'm implementing processes I never had the bandwidth to manage in the past. I would have needed to hire at least three specialists to do what I'm able to do with this product, accounting, CSR and legal. It makes my small business feel like an army.
This app is structured like a company, with the templates broken down by department, then by task. I was an archivist in a past life so I am picky. It was very easy to search and find what I needed. The templates are really well done, well written, I can edit it from Word convert it into .doc or pdf, and I save a lot of time with that fill in the blanks editing feature rather than retyping my information.
Bottom line is I'm blown away by the impact this has had on my business. It's saved me so much time and energy and outsourcing. It paid for itself the first time I used it to write a supplier contract. I highly recommend. -
"Read for Clarification on Some Misleading Reviews"
Version: Business-in-a-Box 2008
Pros
Quality templates written by lawyers / professional / safe / Demo allows you to preview and edit all documents
Cons
Advanced auto-fill functions coming soon
Summary
Hi, I'm the marketing director at Biztree and I wanted to address a few recurring posts which can unfortunately be misleading.
The latest version (released April 2011) includes a fix which allows you to install Business-in-a-Box on your desktop or in your 'My Documents' folder without causing any problems.
THE DEMO VERSION PROVIDES A PREVIEW (not "free" templates)
The Demo allows you to view and modify all documents. You can open every single one, make changes and save them in Business-in-a-Box Format. This allows you to try the software and review the documents before making a purchase.
THERE ARE NO POP UP ADS
When in Demo mode, you are not able to copy/paste content, save as a Word document or print documents. The Demo allows you to preview the content, so when you try to copy/paste, export or print, a software prompt will display a message like "This feature is disabled in the Demo, would you like to upgrade to Business-in-a-Box Pro?" (As soon as you upgrade to Pro all features will be enabled)
THE SOFTWARE IS 100% SAFE
A few people have received a false alarm from their antivirus software that says that a Business-in-a-Box file contains a virus. This is a false positive. Our software has been on the market for over 9 years and is virus free! When we publish new versions, it sometimes takes a bit of time before antivirus makers scan new Business-in-a-Box files and create a "fingerprint" which allows them to recognize our product as safe. In most cases the scan has already been done and you simply need to update your antivirus definitions.
If you applied an update and are still getting an alert, simply post the name of your antivirus software here and we will contact the software maker to make sure they whitelist Business-in-a-Box.
