Version: Bryce Presets 5
"Great program? As viewed from which planet?"
Pros: Struggling to find one (because it won't, can't, doesn't do anything for me, I'm afraid). One Star - sadly, still rather generous.
Cons: I have also struggled with DAZ|Studio for nearly 2 years. Some reviewers have fallen into the same trap that DAZ does - they (and the manual) are so good at telling me WHAT I can do, and how EASY it is, but nowhere is it actually written (unless you have time to wade thru all the forums, of course), just HOW?
I have actually spent more time having a look round Bryce, than I spent on these comments, but I cannot find out how to alter resolution, or anything else! If you know, then please tell us, rather than try to discredit other reviews, because I totally agree with them.
I don't want a 1000-page manual, either, but Bryce is certainly NOT for beginners. A small help file would not go amiss - maybe there is one, but the user interface is just so 'user-UNfriendly', that I cannot find it.
I would press the power button, but Bryce, when open, freezes everything else out, so all my visible task-bar features are unobtainable. Luckily, I have discovered the usefulness of 'Control+Alt+Delete' to open the Task Manager, and close the program down, so I can regain access to everything else. Unless the hidden help file says otherwise, this is the only way I have found to shut down Bryce (No little X-button, here!).
I am not here to learn new programs - programs are just tools to enable me to create data/artwork/anything. To me, the mark of a good program is that I can at least make a start on some piece of work or other, without even a first glance at the instructions. There is nothing resembling the a normal menu or functions of a regular half-decent program in Bryce, so if you are a beginner, you are on your own, mate!
Having now shut down Bryce with Task Manager, and regained my start button, I can navigate to Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs, which now looks a more attractive option than ever before.
Bryce? Forget it, unless you are an expert, of course. As for DAZ, I have invested/agonised/wasted so many hours, that I hesitate to get rid of that (each new day!)

Bryce is for PRO redering, and for that Reason it isn't exactly user frendly. And Bryce isn't made for Windows, it is made for MAC, therefore; it doesn't have a little fancy window, but if you just put your curser near the top. Then a bar will appear and from there you can exit, save, load...
Although there is a general lack of material on the internet on Bryce. I had to go to a class to learn about it, and finding out about it was an accident...
But the Point is, budy your in the shallow end of the (for lack of a better term) User-Friendly pool. You talk in BASIC and your interpreter understands Assembly.
