Version: Bryce Presets 5
"The learning curve isn't as steep as you'd think with a first glance.."
Pros: Contrary to some reviews, this program actually doesn't have a steep learning curve.
The program DID freeze on me on initial start up, where it informed me I needed to install the Bryce Presets. After ending the process, I DL'ed and installed the presets and restarted B5 and it worked fine.
But to clear up a few other false comments; * Your taskbar will still remain visible when working in Bryce.
* You CAN maximize the screen resolution AND change the window/image preview size.
* There ARE help files
* There IS a quit button, in fact as long as you've found the menu bar (it is hidden at the very top of your screen which you can access by pointing your mouse up there and it'll spring into view) you'll find most everything you need. And what you didn't find in the top menu, you'll no doubt find on the different little option icons to the right of the screen; everything from maximizing the layout to choosing the background colour/texture.
If you take a few minutes to take a look around you'll find the UI is quite user-friendly, easy to understand and quite clever.
Basically folks it's free.. but it won't be for long. A lot of people had to pay for this program and after this offer ends, a lot more people will find themselves paying for it (Only people with v5+ will be eligible to upgrade to v6. So should you not download it and decide at a later date you want Bryce v6, you'll have to purchase 5 first). And it really is a good little program. You won't be creating stunning artworks in five minutes but it won't take you five months either. It is a solid little program capable of making some really beautiful images and animations with a bit of practice and effort.
If you're interested you might as well try it.. you really don't have anything to lose price-wise.
Cons: The only thing I wish Bryce had was scroll-mouse support to zoom in/out. But this isn't a big issue as the supplied buttons for this task are more than adequate.
