    "Bot is disappointing"

    March 4, 2014  |   By davidroper

Version: Bot Revolt Anti-Malware Free Edition 1.4.3

    Pros

It blocks known ISP sites by watching their ISP numbers. I know someone will correct me, but you know what I mean. Websites are stored as Numbers, not names.

Good idea. NetNanny and others use that method to stop kids from porn site etc etc. Used at Library's and Public sites to stop browsing certain sites.

Easy to setup and run. Brainless effort.

    Cons

I was happy with it until it would stop or slow down my PC for an upload of new or additional numbers to block.

I would install it again if it would learn how and could get out of the way and upload only when keyboard activity was nil.

I had to unload it. It simply slowed down my little 3GB memory Compaq laptop too much.

    Summary

Works as advertised. Great idea for protecting the user from bad places on the net. Too bad it slowed me down too much. IHad to uninstal it sadly.

    "Useful-BotRevolt looks good"

    October 3, 2013  |   By Brady_SM

Version: Bot Revolt Anti-Malware Free Edition 1.4.2

    Pros

So far so good and I am fascinated by the descriptions of IP's coming up.

    Cons

My feeling is that it could be confusing for non-technical users. Some suggestions:
    Ability to re-size the window.
Ability to "remember" last window position on closing. It starts up centre screen.

    Summary

    So far so good. thanks

    Pros

After installing the program I could see it working immediately. I run windows 7 64-bit. Program scans my traffic fast

    Cons

    Does not remove the malware!
This program protects your traffic so you have a better chance not to get malware.

    Summary

Great protection against rouge malware threats.

    "Does not work."

    August 14, 2013  |   By Son_of_Earth

Version: Bot Revolt Anti-Malware Free Edition 1.4

    Pros

    Based on peerblock.

    Cons

    Doesn't work on win7 64bit.

    Summary

    Installed fine but wont start.

    Updated on Sep 15, 2013

The new version works now but I think it is a bogged down capitalist version of peerblock so I uninstalled it and went back to peerblock.

    "View of my pc connections"

    July 2, 2013  |   By javaHack80

Version: Bot Revolt Anti-Malware Free Edition 1.4

    Pros

The best feature of this product is its outbound protection. After installing I found a number of files were trying to communicate with a server in Russia and Bot revolt was blocking it in real time.

Also does a good job preventing access to malware, spyware, scam and spam attack sites.

    Cons

This software is an improvement of peerblock, and the developers clearly state it on their blog. (http://blog.botrevolt.com/bot-revolt-software-is-based-off-of-peer-block-peer-guardian/)

-Free version does not give you ongoing access to their lists.

    Overall a good program

    "Step-up from Peerblock"

    May 21, 2013  |   By Blk_Galager

Version: Bot Revolt Anti-Malware Free Edition 1.3

    Pros

    User Friendly, Better Protection

    Cons

Free doesn't have the private lists

    Summary

I've been using Peerblock since it came out a few years ago. and I have to say that there were many problems with the software, It was unstable and it crashed every other day and didn't run on startup. This software is only 4 bucks and you can tell it's a 2013 version of the old software, they fixed majority of the problems that it had. If you read their site they have their own lists that they generate from private and government agencies so you really get the latest protection. I will say they did take some features away but I think for the average PC user they features they do have is perfectly fine.

"Essentially has repackaged open-source into payware."

    May 19, 2013  |   By Qrazon

Version: Bot Revolt Anti-Malware Free Edition 1.3

    Pros

    Absolutely nothing.

    Cons

The free version s nothing more than a CRIPPLED fork of the open-sourced Peer Block but with fewer features.

Peer Block allows the addition of lists from iblocklist.com (or others). You've got to pay to get this feature in BotRevolt.

    Summary

So, basically, this developer has repackaged the open-source Peer Block, crippled its features in its free version THEN makes you pay to get back those features. No thanks. Peer Block hasn't been updated in 3 years but it still works fine.

This developer wants to add features to an open source project then charge for it? Fine; lots of software does this. HOWEVER, it is just plain wrong when this developer makes users pay for the features available in the open-sourced project. At least IMHO.
