"Has been replaced by new version"
Version: BootIt Next Generation 1.87
Pros
Unknown - have not installed yet due to complexity
Cons
Very complicated but probably also very capable. When will Linux get away from the use of floppies? Most PC's no longer have floppies! Also Linux re-naming HD partitions is confusing for users new to Linux.
Summary
There are simpler and much easier, free, Multiboot systems available if Windows is excluded.

"Essential Nuts $ Bolts for a sysadmin"
Version: BootIt Next Generation 1.87
Pros
When you know what you want to do with partitions, multi-boot, imaging, etc. BootitNG will allow you to do it. Compare the cost of a partition manager for a Windows Server OS and you can save nearly a thousand dollars for a hard disk upgrade.
Cons
None, though you have to know what you're doing and read how to achieve it.
Summary
Apart from supplying invaluable tools for partition management, this tool has saved my skin on several occasions: recovering and undeleting lost partitions on a hard drive; aligning old FAT32 formatted partitions for a NTFS Convert so I did not end up with 512-byte clusters. If it doesn't work for you first time, it's because you need to study the "Settings" and understand their consequences.

Did not work a waste of time
Summary

"Extremely Poor Tech Support"
Version: BootIt Next Generation 1.87
Pros
Programme works great.
Cons
Haven't had a chance to try new version.
Summary
Have changed my details since buying this programme and it looks like you now need a serial number instead of the reg strings I have. I contacted Tech Support to find out how to update my details and got no satisfaction at all. They're instructions were in geek language and despite my reply in plain english saying I couldn't understand them, they still replied in geek. Don't tell me to SIMPLY log-in when there is NO log-in button on the page you sent me to. I got sent to a download page which needed my details, which wouldn't accept my original details and since all I could get from Support was geek, I've written it off. Maybe I can just use my old version that still takes the reg strings.

"Just an amazing piece of software"
Version: BootIt Next Generation 1.87
Pros
It can do so many things. Partitioning, cloning, image/restore, MBR manipulation, boot manager, BCD Edit.
Excellent tech support.
Registration takes less than a second. Copy/paste.Cons
I'd like to see version 2 backup images instead of version 1. Apparently this will happen "soon".
Summary
Not an application for those who don't want to learn about partitions or imaging. There is a steep learning curve but once you master this app it is a treasure. I use it several times each day.
Licensed for use on 3 home computers.

"Works ... But Heavily Over-Rated"
Version: BootIt Next Generation 1.87
Pros
The product will back up your PC
Cons
Horrible registration process and not very user friendly. Using SWReg as vendor adds $3 plus change to cost for fifteen seconds of work. The reg file should be sent with the purchase verification from SWReg.
Summary
"BootIt" and "Image for Windows" have be touted and recommended many years by the Langalist and other various IT e-zines. BootIt Next Gen falls short because the majority of PC users won't, or don't understand how to use, or register the product. Simple questions to ask yourself before even considering using or purchasing this product ...
? How well do you understand the DOS environment?
? How familiar are you around .reg files?
If your response is that you are comfortable with both, then get this product, because it is very good at doing what it says it will do ... But if you aren't comfortable with the DOS environment, or with .reg files, then look into getting a user friend application like Acronis Image for Windows, or Norton Ghost. -
"Not worth the money."
Version: BootIt Next Generation 1.87
Pros
Works as advertised.
Cons
Rediculously tedious and convoluted registration process. Totally absent tech support - error during disk creation and got no response from my email to them. Counter-intuitive UI - a lot of the stuff is exactly backwards to what would you expect.
Summary
It's cheap, but still not worth the money - there are exceptionally good freeware products that will do what this does with a lot less hassle. See software reviews at Gizmo's Freeware - TechSupportAlert.com.

"Software Great but Registration is not"
Version: BootIt Next Generation 1.87
Pros
Software works very well indeed, can't fault it!
Cons
Registration following trial, I'm sorry people at Terabyte, it sucks! Appreciate given the nature of the product it's not that easy but come on it can't be that hard to improve things.
Summary
I've been d*ck*ing around for half an hour now and still haven't got it sorted on a laptop with no floppy drive....it's a real shame, the product itself is spot on but is spoilt by an archaic registration process:(
