"I too feel like I have been Ripped Off!"

    February 10, 2009  |   By manwi

    Version: Boomerang Data Recovery 2.0.10

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The have banned my "Lifetime" serial like others here without a detailed explanation. I believe I only used this program twice. I can't even remember the last time I used it. I have sent in two Help Desk request to reverse the ban or a detailed explanation of the ban. However, both my tickets have go unanswered. I have a feeling they are trying to squeeze more money out of me and there new pricing scheme is rather expensive.

"Ouch, take back what I just said! Upgrade sucks!"

    October 19, 2008  |   By jreffner

    Version: Boomerang Data Recovery 2.0.4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Version 2 sure looked great until I read their "upgrade". Oh my God! They did away with the Universal license for the "Home User", and even worse is that you loose "credit" as you recover files. Hence, if you only buy 100 MB of recovery credit, you can only recover 100 MB with it. At that time if you want to recover more, then you have to pay them more! A TB is $280.00 so if I recover a single drive, it costs me $280.00 and then I've got to spend an additional $280.00 to get a TB's worth of credit back for the next catastrophe!

This seems way too expensive for me, especially since version 1 allowed me to recover unlimited data for one price on 2 different platforms!

Being a Boomerang owner as well as a Data Rescue II customer, my experience has been that each will succeed where the other one fails, and that neither is perfect, nor better than the other. Therefore I used to own both, but with this new pricing scheme (and a scheme it is) I'm simply sticking with Data Rescue II and it only! Prosoft doesn't rob you, nor does it require activation, or any other annoying or limiting factors. It just works, and at $100.00 for unlimited recovery of any amount of data on any drives, you just can't beat it compared to $280.00 per TB of recovered data.

Sorry Boomerang, but you just lost a customer. I'm sticking with Prosoft's Data Rescue II!

"Product support is non existent - DO NOT BUY !!"

    September 18, 2008  |   By cerberus93

    Version: Boomerang Data Recovery 1.1.6

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Product worked once and then fails repeatedly with a session error. Numerous attempts to contact the support department via their online ticketing system and email go unanswered. If you can waste the money, then give it a shot. It might work for you otherwise find something else because this company doesn't back it's product.

"Sounds good - but are You serious about download ?"

    June 9, 2008  |   By mfix--2008

    Version: Boomerang Data Recovery 1.1.6

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I would love to have a new probably capable Recovery Tool around - BUT THE CURRENT VERSION IS NOT DOWNLOADABLE- IF You would be serious about Your Boomerang software then You probably would make sure that the latest version is downloadable from Your own website. You have Version 1.1.6 out but the two download links go to 1.1.2 (CNET) and 1.1.4 (Torrent).
...and if I want to report the problem on the built-in reporting page - all i get is an error: You have provided an invalid security code - which is not the case.
Unfortunately this does not leave a very professional impression. Fix it pls.

    "Boomrang data recovery"

    February 2, 2008  |   By lbrierley

    Version: Boomerang Data Recovery 1.0.9

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
    Boomerang Data Recovery

I bought this product last year in a panic when I lost my files $179 is a lot of money, but you think your lost files are worth it. All it recovered were loads of empty folders, but recently I needed to use it again & thought maybe I was unlucky the 1st time. It won't even run now as the license has been de-activated, I bought the product 9 months ago.

I believe the people at Boomdrs are dishonest, I have been writing to them for 4 weeks now, asking them for the license no. but get no reply. (see this link, which I know they'll erase when they discover this revue:
    http://www.boomdrs.com/community/boomerang-product-bought-but-now-license-is-deactivated-t151.0.html
I have also tried telephoning them many times but I think the number they give is bogus.

We have a trading standards organisation in Britain but unfortunately they can do nothing about sub-standard products bought on line.

"Promises a lot, does not deliver."

    April 9, 2007  |   By PowerTama

    Version: Boomerang Data Recovery 1.1.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Very fast and easy to use.
Support is very week. Contacted the developer before buying and he gave snippy condescending responses. Not a nice person to work with.
Features are neutral. It has a Maclike interface.
Stability is poor. On a working MBP 2.16GHZ 3GB RAM on a fresh restart Boomerang crashed. I have run Boomerang 6 times and it crashed just that once.
If you can get something important back it would be worth the purchase price. Boomerang finds all sorts of files but I have never recovered anything useful. As an experiment today I threw a bunch of folders and files in the trash just to see how Boomerang would perform. It found half of the items I was looking for. Hopefully if I was ever in a real bind Boomerang would return some value in the investment.

"The killer app for the mac"

    February 28, 2007  |   By PC Doctors

    Version: Boomerang Data Recovery 1.0.12

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Forget those other 'recovery' programs, this one works perfect. I literally gave the run down on everything I could find and then heard about this on OSXHints. Where has this company been and how come no one talks about it??? Very easy to use, easy to install, great documentation with pictures (you don't even need the docs). Cost is a little more, but it got back my files. Finally, I can do my taxes. (uh, thanks) I lost all my expense notes by accident. You can create these cool signatures to scan deleted files by using files of similar types. Nothing else out there does this. For the heck of it, I dug out a drive that died 4 years ago I've had sitting in my closet and it recovered it too, it wouldn't even mount!

After mistakenly deleting the .sparseimage file from OS X, we looked at several recovery solutions to help save the day. Boomerang was the ONLY product we found that identified and recovered the .sparseimage file. Phew!!!
