The blinking slider has found its way into the menu, including keyboard shortcuts - by popular demand. Look under "View > Blinking" for a list of choices.
There are new options to show areas like a specific aspect ratio, the action and title save areas as overlay in the movie window. See the new button "Frame Overlay?" in the options drawer for details. These options should really help people targeting material for image formats like 16:9 and TV screens.
