If you want to help out with the manual great.Cons
BoincTasks is intended for users with more than average tasks (wu) or with remote clients.
It is not a BOINC replacement it's a BOINC Manager replacement. -
"Outdated version and couldn't even get to run."
Version: BoincTasks 0.27
Pros
None as I couldn't even start using it.
Cons
Program wouldn't even run. Just went into "not-responding" modes and had to be killed by windows. This version 27 is old. Version 38 is latest but works no better.
Instructions are completely unusable and aren't understandable from paragraph one.Summary
Skip this program. Maybe you can get version 38 from their website running. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit and the program would just lockup and have to be killed or give error responses for everything I tried to do. The awful instructions are no help at all.
After a lot of tinkering, I discovered it is not a replacement for the BOINC Manager as it states in it's description. Boinc Manager must be running to use this program. So you'll still have to use Boinc Manager. So all this program is doing is giving a nice looking color view and Boinc Manager is till doing all the work. Pretty much useless.

Even then, endless hourglass symbols saying to wait and numerous "program not responding" erros abound when clicking on items. When clicking on check boxes to select them they show a check mark and then immediately removie making it impossible to select anything. The interface looks nice but if you can't use it not worth much. The poor English in the 5-page manual makes it darn difficult to even grasp a word of what the instructions are telling you.
Unless you are willing to keep Boinc Manager running all the time in addition to this program, I'd suggest skipping this one. It's just not ready for use yet.
Updated on Mar 7, 2010Also note that since doing this review there is now a version 42. Still has the same problems I mentioned above.
