    "Master Players Don't Buy"

by clisi on December 11, 2007

Pros: Yes, the game is fun, but for high level playsers I would not buy it. I own version 1.0.0.0, and I'm not sure if there is an update but I cannot get any support or response from Funkitron - that's one problem. The other problem with the game is that you can only get to a certain point score before Betty will beat you. It's as if the game is programmed for Betty to get better as your score increases, no matter which level you pick to play at. I love the game but the way it's programmed takes the challenge out of play.

Hope this helps all the expert Boggle and word game players out there.

I too have 1.0.0.0, and like you wonder if there's an update. Reason is, there's a serious bug in the program: besides all the words it doesn't have in its dictionary, there are lots it does have but doesn't recognize when you play them. You find out they're in its dictionary when you add them and then click on them to see their definitions, which were there all along. A lot of these words are s-plurals or s-3rd-person-singular verbs, but some are neither.I often verify these in the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary, which, by the way, seems to be the source for the definitions in the game.
I don't have a problem with Betty because I never play against her. I only play solitaire, and I get competitive feedback by figuring out what percentage of the words Boggle Supreme got that I got. If I get 70%, that's really good. More usually I get between 50 and 60%.
Good to meet another serious player. You might be interested in WordSplay.net, which is online live Boggle.
