"Pain in the neck to configure"
Version: Blue Crab 4.9.8
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I own this and SiteSucker.
Blue Crab always gives me trouble.
SiteSucker always gets the website (doesn't get .flv files, but I don't think Blue Crab does either - I'm not likely to find out as Blue Crab usually crashed on me). -
"Best by Far"
Version: Blue Crab 4.9.6
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
After trying 3 other programs, only Blue Crab was able to download for off-line viewing of the entire site. It maintained all the links etc Wonderful! It may be a bit unMac-like but that can improve later. It does what it says it will do, that's important! -
"Freakin' AWESOME!"
Version: Blue Crab 4.9.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Not one, not two, but FIVE different page grabbers in one application. One gives you full control and a detailed progress report as it crawls and grabs as much or as little as you want. One does the same thing but has a simplified display. One grabs only the page or two at the url you give it. One grabs images only, displaying them as they are grabbed. The fifth crawls pages or sites from urls in a text document you import, like a list of downloadable files contained in an email. Easy to use. Even does a thorough job of creating a browser-friendly copy of database-driven websites on your Mac. All that "whatever.php" server-side silliness is no problem. Blue Crab has more useful features than any two other similar apps combined. And to top it all, there's a friendly, responsive, knowledgeable person answering your support emails. Blue Crab is a bargain at twice the price. -
"Thank you!"
Version: Blue Crab 4.7.2
Summary

This program is amazing, and the developer was very helpful when I had questions about various features which are available using configuration files. In particular I was shown how to setup the program to download websites "as is" for comparison, backup and the discovery of broken links. (Out of the box Blue Crab will modify page hyperlinks so that you can browse them when you don't have access to the web, which is a great feature, but sometimes you want the pages unaltered.)
I've been using this program for about 1 year now, and appreciate that the developer consistently provides (freqent) software updates enhancing the program on an almost continuous basis. Thank you again for making this product! -
"Made On-line lessons portable"
Version: Blue Crab 4.4.9
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I had been looking for some way to get some on-line lessons to people with no high speed service. Blue Crab turned out to be the solution. The hardest part was running through the sites again to count how many layers down to go to get it all.
I have a folder for each one now -- that enables me to burn a CD or DVD that takes the whole site to whoever.
I have not had to ask for support-- it is fairly intuitive and the included tour makes the usage easy. -
"5 Star Rating - The Best!"
Version: Blue Crab 4.4.6
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Blue Crab is an excellent application and does what it says extremely well.
The developer is very responsive to updates and feature requests, and many times provides "configurations" and instructions for people like me, not very computer savy.
I highly recommend this application for downloading web sites for off-line viewing. 5 Stars -
"Excellent"
Version: Blue Crab 4.2.9

What a great way to set up preferences for accessing sites! I love the layout, it's easy to figure out, but not dumbed down at all. Support was also excellent and prompt and helpful. -
"Indispensible"
Version: Blue Crab 3.4.3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've been using this product in conjunction with indexing software to determine the suitabilit of sites for children, by looking at the word index of the downloaded pages. I can't imagine doing this manually, and therefore this program is proving to be indispensible for my task. Most sites I have worked have no problems at all. The program is very stable - I just wish it could be a bit faster ;)
I welcome the newest feature for logging into a website with my membership information.
