"NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT LOTS OF BELLS & WHISTS NOTHING ELSE"

    April 15, 2014  |   By ch00seusername

    Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2014

    Pros

    Nothing positive to say

    Cons

When your computer is infected with a virus, can you go for a week without the use of your computer.
Thats how bad Bitdefender customer service is. After waiting a week for a reply & having to use my back up computer,I get a email from Bitedefender asking me if I an send them a copy of the virus. I finally gave up on bit defender near non existant support & fixed the problem myself , using system restorer & other fixes I searched out on the internet
AS far as I know Bitedefender doesn't have a live chat connection or a Telephoe # they can be reached at.
If you can get your computer operating , you have to fill out a service request form & email to bitdefender.
While making out the service request form , the request form is gathering information from your computer.
You have to go through this process just to ask a simple quuestion
I've been waiting 2 wks. to get Bitedef software I had already purchased for a 2nd computer & the answer to a simple question

    Summary

Don't wast your money on Bitdefender. Yes it does stop viruses like every other Anti Virus program out their , but incorperates nearly nonexistant customer support.

"CNET Bias Rating On This Software"

    April 7, 2014  |   By jcf1957

    Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2014

    Pros

    Lots Of User Interface Tools

    Cons

User Interface Tools Lavishly Embellished, many of which the average user will never use.

    Summary

I've used BOTH Bitdefender Total Security and Kaspersky Pure 3.0 and see no real measurable difference as far as one being above the other in stats. The most important significance of either software is user knowledge & understanding of software interface and features. The biggest problem I have with Bitdefender Total Security is its Autopilot feature which is best left off. Leaving the Autopilot On tasks an increasing weight on PC resources. Bitdefender also tries to control Windows Update instead of the PC user.

"solutions to make it work well"

    April 3, 2014  |   By ste-ven

    Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2014

    Pros

    I'm not a professional

    Cons

I rate it 4+. But....guys, you need a large memory, let say 4GB
2)use additionl free software when BD freezes other software.
I use the IObit FREE unlocker. Plus, I use the old good free Ccleaner which shows me which soft is launched automatically when Windows reboots, and thus I can select which soft shold be launched first, a very useful feature.
Then, when you REALLY want to TOTALLY delete BD or other products, use the FREE IObit uninstaller.
Another important advice--> when you install BD, be SURE that ALL other protection softwares are uninstalled.
Well, this is my way to make BD work fine :)

    "BitDefender is a malware generator."

    March 23, 2014  |   By CannondaleExpress

    Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2014

    Pros

It installed easily. That is it.

    Cons

Too many to list all of them, but for example:
    1) It made my PC sluggish and susceptible to freezing. (On the bright side, I because expert at rebooting my PC.)
    2) No manual virus scan, only the auto-scan which took days to complete.
    3) BitDefender auto-scan always found malware--but how was it getting past BD in the first place? When I used Windows Defender, I never had malware or a poor performing PC. I switched back to Windows Defender.
    4) BD customer service stinks. But they are polite in their inability to help.
    5) BD tried to steal the renewal from my credit card even though I had e-mailed them that I removed BD from my PC and retracted my authorization to renew annually. I had to change my credit card number due to the target breach, but BD found my new account number and charged me $80. Unbelievably corrupt. I only got the money back by working through my credit card company.
BD is a corrupt company. Stay away.

    Summary

In January 2013, I decided to pay for anti-virus protection. There were no issues with my desktop, but I thought my computer might be exposed to danger by using the freeware provided with Windows. BitDefender seemed to be frequently recommended, so I downloaded it and selected the annual auto-upgrade option. Within a few days of installing BitDefender, my desktop computer started experiencing issues—freezing, sluggishness, etc. I will never ever use BitDefender again and I cringe every time I see it listed as a good product.

"Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware). Can't wait to unsubscribe"

    March 23, 2014  |   By fairwayford

    Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2014

    Pros

Blocks viruses and malware (as far as I know). I haven't had any since installing. The package I bought includes 3 PCs and mobile. Generally runs in the background. Highly rated by CNet, but I should have paid attention to the user reviews.

    Cons

Where do I start? Windows updates, even on a brand new tablet, always, always generates error messages that are totally irrelevant. Every single virus scan generates the same problems with cookies that it won't make go away once and for all. The full scan takes way too long, and yes, generates the same repetitive issues. Required windows updates through BitDefender re a joke. Yes, it notifies you to update, and yes you choose the updates, then after going through all the steps, it tells you you're done. Then the little progress status wheel shows a number of events in red, which you discover are required windows updates. "Wait, I just updated, you say." You follow the prompts... and voila! Total confirmation of how much it's wasted your time. "No updates are available."
This proves that User Reviews rule. CNet rated this product highly, but I should have read these reviews first.

    Summary

I tried several AV programs when my Avast subscription ended... AVG, Trend Micro, Kaspersky, Comodo, then Bitdefender - all on a 30-day trial basis. Then I got the full Bitdefender Total Security package for up to 3 PCs, including mobile. Now I can't wait for my Bitdefender subscription to end, but I'm also gearing up for a fight based on what I've read here about Bitdefender using your credit card info to auto-renew. My main issues with Avast had been that it allowed malware that caused me to lose my hard drive, and then dealing with their foreign based customer service iYogi turned out to be useless, requiring up-selling for a monitoring and virus removal service. Now I hear that Bitdefender's customer service is the same, though I haven't had to use them yet (rue the thought...). Now I wish I had ignored the CNet Editor's review and given more weight to the User Reviews.

"Not worth it when there are so many other choices."

    March 17, 2014  |   By jeffopus

    Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2014

    Pros

Easy but long installation, good rated antivirus protection.

    Cons

Customer support does not allow you to see open tickets. Id Theft Protection requires additional cost to get any real valuable information. No way to pause or turn off protection completely.

    Summary

I reviewed Bitdefender Total Security 2014 and was a bit disappointed with a few aspects including the general tone of customer support. I was not able to actually see my own support tickets and for some companies this would be a crucial problem if more than one person was submitting problems. I also received a warning about my credit as part of the ID Theft Protection but only got "A change in your credit report has been detected." To find out more I had to pay extra which was not going to happen so ID Theft Protection is useless.

I just could not recommend this even after using it for a month on several different computers which brings me to the last bit of my problem with the software, I fully uninstalled it and it popped up again after almost three weeks by adding an install program to my startup. "Some good and some not good."

    February 21, 2014  |   By sissyll

    Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2014

    Pros

    Good protection, notification, updates.

    Cons

Uses illegal methods to upgrade you without asking; foreign-based staff; does not honor renewal deals sent by email, or makes the time frame too small to meet and will charge you without your acceptance at the full price. BEWARE!

    Summary

I loved the security of this program in the beginning, but the renewal process and their deceitful business methods far out-weighed having it. I have to have my bank fraud unit make them give me back my money when they ignored my requests over the phone.

"One of the Best Antivirus software suite"

    February 20, 2014  |   By TechServicesEU

    Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2014

    Pros

Its does work! it comes with an online protection tool, anti-theft management features and 2GB of cloud storage. the suite defaults to an "Autopilot" mode. This makes all the important decisions about protection instead requiring user interaction.
It has a nice easy to use dashboard.

    Cons

    No mobile security option(Android, iOS)
Be careful when buying the product especially when purchasing it directly from the there site. They will hold your credit card details and automatically charge you once your product expires if you do not opt out

    Summary

Bitdefender Internet Security is a robust suite, and better than other products available!

    "WARNING! Don't Get Bitdefender!"

    February 15, 2014  |   By TotoCool18

    Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2014

    Pros

    -Good in catching viruses
    -Good Interface

    Cons

    1-Makes Computer SLOWER
2-Some apps didn't work when Bitdefender was installed(ex:Bluestacks)
    3-TOO MANY Updates!
4-Makes internet connection SLOWER and I realized this while downloading during uninstalling Bitdefender TotalSecurity 2014. After I removed it the file downloaded faster.

    Summary

IT's good when you want to get rid of viruses, but you'll have slower PC, slower internet connection and lots of other bad stuff to come.

"Not compatible with Windows Homegroup or streaming"

    January 20, 2014  |   By feministjavisst

    Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2014

    Pros

Many functions in the antivirus section

    Cons

I bought it a month ago. Immediately problems arose when I tried to send large files through the Windows Homegroup system.
Since a good firewall should ajust itself automatically when it comes to such basic functions in Windows, I thought something might have gone wrong in the intallation of the software. But no, reinstallation didnt help.

I contacted their helpdesk that responded after 3 weeks. Instead of just telling me how the software should be set up for this basic windows function, they suggested trial-and-error technique that I had allready tried, now 4 weeks into my subscription.

    Summary

Their customer service is one of the worst I have seen. It is like talking to a retarded computer. After trying everything and writing many e-mails, I got this response. Stupid.
