"Keeps you safe, but annoying in everyday life"

    July 26, 2014  |   By WoodTable

Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2015 18.12.0.958

    Pros

#1 internet security software to date

    Cons

    Ugly user interface

Autopilot and it's intelligence algorithm will fight with your settings (I don't get why the intelligence system cannot learn from my choices)

    Summary

I've owned Bitdefender Total Security since the 2014 series and I am just not that impressed with how it's laid out. It does load faster in 2015, but I preferred 2014's layout better. Autopilot will continue to change your settings even if you change them, which is ironic to me since they advertise this thing as having an intelligence system that will learn from your activities. Apparently, me changing settings is not in that algorithm for things to monitor.

Reviews on this product by PC Magazine, and the like, are nice, but they don't test it out over the long run. By which I mean that they just install the software on an infected computer, test its ability to clean up the mess, and move on to the next security program. They don't give (more) useful information as to how the program behaves when you start to use it in your everyday life.

I used to use Norton/Symantec products before I got out on my own and started buying my own security software, but, aside from the fact that Bitdefender is #1, I am really considering switching back. In summary, I really don't believe all the hype that Bitdefender gets.

    Updated on Jul 26, 2014

I forgot to mention something about the user interface. I do not understand why they put the four major buttons off to the side in tiny boxes, but they put the settings and other program-tweaking buttons as the big, forefront buttons you see when you start up the program. This and the fact that I hate that it looks like a security program I'd stick on my phone (aesthetically speaking) is why I say the user interface is ugly.

    "A first class product."

    July 10, 2014  |   By Nebelb

Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2015 18.12.0.958

    Pros

It really does do the job it is supposed to. I have say I like the Facebook feature & the Lap Top loss protection.

    Cons

Due to the amount of viruses flying around on the Internet, the data base is hugh. Updating antivirus signatures does sometimes slow down the computer a little. That is all though that is in my opinion a little negative. Hence the 4.5 stars.

    Summary

I have been a long term customer. Having tried other programms I found myself always returning to Bit Defender. In my opinion it is the best programm on the market for all round security. I can only highly recommend it.
The problem of the updates marginally slowing down the performance of my computer are being dealt with. I phoned their head office (easy for me living in Germany) & they told me they have heard from other customers about this & are endeavouring to solve the problem. Still I can live with that, knowing I have a good amount of protection. There is no programm on the market that can offer 100% protection in the private sector.

    "Best antivirus money can buy"

    July 10, 2014  |   By sphynxsoft

Version: Bitdefender Total Security 2015 18.12.0.958

    Pros

    - intuitive user interface designed for touch as well, which is a big deal for my Dell XPS 12.
    - Surprisingly fast scan time even for in-depth scan jobs
    - AV-Comparatives and AV-Test position the Bitdefender scanning technology as number one in detection for the past three years, which, again, is a big deal if you share the home PC with less skilled users, such as children.
    -Set-it-andf-forget-it: I rarely see any prompts from the antivirus solution, it handles everything by itself;

    Cons

None that I can think of

    Summary

I've had Bitdefender TS 2015 since early beta and it was love at first sight. If there is one thing I care about with computers it's security and Bitdefender has managed to fend off creeps on my machine for the past six years. Totally recommended.
