    "Marginally ethical business practices"

    June 10, 2014  |   By projectboats

Version: Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 2014

    Pros

    Too soon to tell.

    Cons

    See comments below.

    Summary

I was suspicious when a $29 product comes with a personal phone call from an orientation representative. Sure enough, after some quick chit chat, a second tech expert came on to remotely inspect my machine.(which was operating just fine) Not surprisingly, he insisted it needed $150 or so in online help to prevent impending doom. This was a hard sell and I'm sure I was dealing with a commissioned salesman on the other end.
It is obvious their business model is relying on the added revenue from this upsell.

    "Awful performance killer"

    June 4, 2014  |   By jjguero

Version: Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 2014

    Pros

    Security is good.

    Cons

Horridly slow, frustrating performance killer of my pc--Vista 32 bit. Unfortunately, I paid for 2 years (big mistake) based on reviews which I certainly question now given that performance was mentioned as being light on resources--HA.
Previous ESET AV and Win Firewall--no problems with performance or security.
Now Bitdefender 2014 experience has been horrid relative to performance. Even the simplest function takes extremely long and is slow to react, often actual minutes for a program to perform. Absolutely a bust for me. I will return to my previous setup if I make it through this current hog.

    Summary

I suggest not ever buying a full suite again. I will return to my previous days of choosing piecemeal.

"Very Good but could be better"

    May 26, 2014  |   By Danne_Mannen

Version: Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 2014

    Pros

    Great detection rate
    Easy to use firewall

    Cons

200 mb ram + 200 mb virtual. Some people say "RAM are meant to be used" but in this case Bitdefender is an overkiller.

Failed in Comodo leak test in many areas.

    "Superb, But CPU Hog"

    May 14, 2014  |   By Imogen7Ryan

Version: Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 2014

    Pros

Fantastic Anti-virus protection, cannot fault it for that. Very little false-positives. I felt my machine was totally safe with this program. Safe Pay is Bit Defenders browser that comes with the suite and it is the only browser I trust to do my online banking.

    Cons

Excessive scans. Slows down your machine way too much: Boot time is very long

    Summary

Bit Defender is amazing. If it didn't slow my machine as much as it did - I'd still be using it. I switched to AVG Free and my boot time is 56% faster. If only they would address this issue, then, they would be the No:1 AV out there.

*I separately downloaded their SafePay browser because of its superb security when Banking etc..

    "beware the hard sell"

    May 9, 2014  |   By doogpoog

Version: Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 2014

    Pros

    never got to find out

    Cons

fell for the concept of having free configuration done by phone when went to install ... rep wanted to clean my computer before configuring, and wanted me to buy the full version for over $200 a year, when all i wanted was the free version, remoted in and told me what problems i had and how my unit would likely develop big problems if not taken care of. When i told her i couldn't afford, she asked how much i could pay, and she pushed and pushed... told her flat out 'no!' and she still wanted to sell me... had to be fairly rude and disconnect completely. Uninstalled and went with AVG, happy ...and much clearer how to configure and easier to work with.

    Summary

    watch out....

    "Beware -- This is RANSOMWARE!"

    April 5, 2014  |   By JohnathanStein

Version: Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 2014

    Pros

    Beware - Ransomware!

    Cons

After installation, the software quarantined 34 of my files, but will only allows 10 files to be restored. Their technical support people say that only the full version gives the user full control.

So, without paying them, files on my system are now held hostage.

The files are all virus-free, as they had been in use for some time, and were previously scanned with Microsoft Security Essentials, MalwareBytes and SuperAntispyware. There is NO malware.

Also note that it is difficult to contact company support.

    1. Their Support page for email is broken: http://www.bitdefender.com/support/contact-us.html

    2. At the same page, the chat fails to connect.

    3. I did get through by phone (954-928-2780), but all the person could tell me is that the paid version does not limit the restore function!

This is RANSOMWARE, claiming to be security software!

"Ample Features but no worth it. Gets really Annoying"

    March 28, 2014  |   By PROSTYLE85

Version: Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 2014

    Pros

Features, automatic scanning, automatic update, lots of automatic features, many different choices of antiviral protections

    Cons

Takes up a lot of memory even with a 2013 computer.
    Slows down the Pc
Doesn't ask to allow automatic scanning
Too many popups and annoying comments
Have a mind of its own

    Summary

This is a great product but its not for everyone. Before you buy it make sure your computer is ready to support it. I have a brand new computer but its still slows it down significantly, I would not buy it because I deleted the trial edition because it was so annoying. It doesn't ask before it does something. This thing has a mind of its own even if its not on autopilot mode. It has good protection but at the cost of a lot of memory usage that will slow your computer down.

    "Good security, resource hog"

    March 26, 2014  |   By pozgayboi

Version: Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 2014

    Pros

Great security though I cannot say it caught any malware, virus's, etc.

    Cons

Uses us way too many resources IMHO. I'm generally at 100% disc usage.

    Summary

Great ISS suite, but need improvement in the way it runs and the system resources it uses to protect the pc.

"Awful product with terrible customer support"

    March 23, 2014  |   By CannondaleExpress

Version: Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 2014

    Pros

None that I found during the ten months I used this horrid product

    Cons

The list is long, so I will just list a few:
    - BitDefender is a malware generator. (I did not have malware issues until I migrated to BitDefender.) Within a few days of installing BitDefender, my PC because sluggish, unstable, and loaded with malware.
    - No manual scan -- only the auto-scan which on my PC took days to complete
    - Awful customer support. They are like drones who politely cannot help.
    - I had cancelled my subscription, but BitDefender sill charged my credit card the annual $80 upgrade fee--then refused to return it even though I had e-mailed them and removed it from my PC. How did they not know I had removed their crappy product since they auto-update their product on my PC?

    Summary

In January 2013, I decided to pay for anti-virus protection. There were no issues with my desktop, but I thought my computer might be exposed to danger by using the freeware provided with Windows. BitDefender seemed to be frequently recommended, so I downloaded it and selected the annual auto-upgrade option. Within a few days of installing BitDefender, my desktop computer started experiencing issues—freezing, sluggishness, etc. I will never ever use BitDefender again and I cringe every time I see it listed as a good product.
