  "BitDefender Review - Really not good enough"

  Pros

  Very easy to set up, simple interface and pretty customisable with handy game mode feature. Good virus protection.

  Cons

  Woeful customer service
  Very slow and resource hungry.
  Slows down machine performance significantly.
  New releases and updates always buggy.
  Eats Virtual Memory
  Causes regular intermittent freezing of all web browsers disrupting normal use.

  Summary

  I am now on my third BD incarnation starting with 2009 which was great, 2010 which, upon release was a nightmare but settled down after a couple of months and 2011 which has been a nightmare. The releases are clearly poorly tested and buggy as the BD Forums attest. Which would be ok-ish if their customer service support was up to scratch but frankly it is woeful.
  Everything is managed by email, response time (if you get one) can be two weeks or more and their solutions appear to be to progressively switch off more and more modules until all you have left is a skeleton system, then to suggest a reinstall and finally to abandon you and ignore you.
  I am a patient man, not quick to judge, but after three years of progressively worse products and being treated with contempt by this company, my business is going elsewhere. I strongly suggest you do the same.
