    "Tech Support will give up on you!"

    Pros

    Their antivirus program worked decently well for a time, but now things are slipping through, and unfortunately they don't seem in any hurry to fix it.

    Cons

    I've had a virus for months, and I've been communicating with tech support the whole time to try to get the issue resolved, patiently waiting for them to stop dragging their feet and fix it, only to have them end up saying in an automated email that they give up because I'm over my email quota for the problem.

    Summary

    Do not waste your time and money on this product. No one at Bitdefender seems to care about their customers.

    I have no issues with this programme at all. In fact, it has been working fine since I downloaded it several months ago.

    "Hate It Useless Product"

    NONE. I only gave them one star because I had to pick at least one.

    Cons

    Installation was hard at first. Slows my computer way down. It finally stopped. Their customer service couldn't care less.

    I bought this product from Herman Street. I contacted them first. They told me to contact Bitdefender so I did. Bitdefender told me to turn off other software that I had for protection. Finally got it installed. Then my pc was so slow.It would fly before.Contacted Bitdfender they told me to turn of part of their product so I did. Their answer did not help at all.I wiped my drive. Then reinstalled all my software including bitdefender. Still had the same problem. I wiped my drive again like six times. Reinstalled all my software again including bitdefender. Still had the same problem. I tried to contact bitdefender sent them numerous emails. They would not do anything. Herman street would not do anything. So I am out the money I paid for the product. I am a very dissatisfied custom. They way I was done is just wrong.I DO NOT RECOMEND TO ANYONE

    "NEVER INSTALL BITDEFENDER!! IT FREEZES WINDOWS"

    Pros

    None, it's a nightmare.

    Cons

    It causes a system freeze. When you try Safe Mode all you get is a black screen.

    "Customer Disservice the worst"

    Seems to detect spyware, but impossible to tell miss rate.

    Cons

    This product would get 5 stars if it weren't for Customer Disservice. I would have to form a committee to design something worse than this. It won't do you any good to pursue any of the multiple pathways to send an inquiry, because they won't answer it anyway. From the software, they make you agree to a lengthy data gathering process for a question that has no relation to software performance. From the Internet, your product (like Antivirus Pro 2011) may not even be listed on their Product dropdown list. The whole process is paternalistic, in which some smartass has determined that s/he can conceive of every possible reason for contacting Support; if you don't fit their menu choices, you're screwed. But it doesn't matter anyway, because they won't answer. If you're thinking of renewing, don't enter the new Reg Key until the last day of the old, because they add the new reg'n duration to the current date, not the expiration date of the old reg'n. Got that? Find another product.

    "Would not install in Win 7 on Parallels 7 Mac"

    unknown because I could not get it to install.

    Cons

    Tried with tech support 3 weeks to get it to install on a Win 7 both in Parallels and in BootCamp boot and it would not install. Got to the "downloading installer files" and just quits every time.

    Asked for a refund. YMMV

    "I used to trust this company"

    Will identify Virus Trojans if you force a scan.

    Cons

    Possibly better than nothing, but probably not.
    Three virus/trojan attacks since install came right through the firewall.
    Won't let any other security utilities run (MalwareBytes)

    Summary

    This was a good product/company. I had the paid version of 2011 and when I updated to 2012 they auto renewed my 2011 licence that no longer existed. Attempts to resolve this through customer service have been frustating attempts at best. The phone agent basically told me that "Sales" would not refund any money that they hace collected.
    The 2012 firwall catches NOTHING viruses and malware come straight through. My computer has been attacked three times in les than two weeks since upgrading to 2012. The software BLOCKS any other security tools from running while it is resident.
    My course is to remove this horrible piece of software and replace it with something effective. I will try to get my money back for at least one of the licences but I will probably turn this over to that state AG and Better Business Bureau. My guess is that they will have stolen this money from me and I won't get it back.

    STAY AWAY, do not give this company your ceredit card Information!

    "More helpful than a computer virus??"

    Pros

    Appears to work well when it is not causing system malfunctions
    Might work better for other systems

    Cons

    Updates caused my computer to go to kill screen
    Visiting the help pages was not helpful
    The "live chat" was an email system
    And the emailed response from customer service just referred me back to the help pages

    Summary

    I bought this software hoping to avoid restarting my system in safe mode, doing a system restore, and wasting time trying to figure out computer problems. Having to deal with poor customer service on top of this just adds insult to injury. I feel pretty mislead by the positive reviews for this system so I decided to write a review. Perhaps it works better for other user systems, but I would not recommend this to other Vista users.

    "(BitDef Internet Security 2012) SFSG, 1st day of trial"

    Good reports on www.av-comparatives.org.

    Cons

    A very slow install, over a 2 mpbs broadband connection; includes a Quick Scan but the whole installation took well over half an hour. The install is a downloaded 800k file initially, which then runs the install over a net connection, with a final rather (imho) bloated 245 MB ProgramFiles installation. Not the way I prefer, but it worked, if slow.

    Subsequently a noticable effect on slowing boot and shutdown (compared to previous Avast), but no noticeable in-use delays.

    The Bitdefender toolbar installed under Firefox 8 will not stay "off" when deselected under Firefox toolbar selections - re-appears after each start of Firefox. I have disabled the extension as I am not too worried about spam and prefere to let Tbird learn and for me to have the junk controls visible at application level.

    Slight oddity after running a full in-depth scan in that the Autopilot and a couple of other default selections had been "undone"

    Summary

    Installed on a new Win7x64 Dell, based on previously-used Avast showing declining effectiveness scores on av-comparatives - Avast is a nice product, fast easy to use etc but no good if it doesn't do the basic job.

    So far Bitdef has been ok, 1st day of a 30-day trial

    Didn't have a problem with registering - most av's need this, why is BD different?
