Above average protection w/ a decent firewall.
Cons
It simply will not un-install itself. There is an un install program available at BD's web page that works okay..But should such a tool be necessary? There is only one way to remove BD completely and that is to reformat your system.

evrything is good about bitdefender the firewall,scanner...and it even has a game mode and laptop mode and it doesnt slow down my pc.

the only thing not good is that u need to reboot your pc after installing.

Easy to use graphical interface. Repurchase reminders are not intrusive (cough, symantec, cough).
Cons
Automatic virus update broke early on Windows XP system, then again when XP was reinstalled on same computer, then again on second computer with Windows Vista and only Microsoft Office on it.
Summary
Google "Bitdefender automatic update", and decide if you want to uninstall and reinstall over and over to get virus updates, which is the solution offered by the Bitdefender support staff (multiple times).

Customer support chat is very fast. You do not have to wait 5 min for the person to respond. I was shocked.. comparing to symantec.Cons
The antiphishing bar is .. needs better look.
Summary
I recommend to everyone to use. Surpasses Kaspersky and other leading vendors.
You cant write a review based upon your experience within hours of installation. Let it get updated, scanned complete, and let the firewall learn your activity for a few days then write your review.
Every program will be slower the first few days.. DUH! -

This software is so much more trouble than Symantec. I went with this b/c Consumer Reports said it was a best buy. It wasn't really any cheaper than anything else just worse. I'd rather take my chances with a my firewall and a free internet security software.

scheduler doesn't work so I receive annoying messages every six days to scan for malware. Gmaill works terrible with it. takes each page approx 30-45 seconds to load. bit defender claims they would fix with update but never did.
Summary
I would not purchase a bit defender product until they work out all the bugs. i can't even load it on one of my computers bc my gf uses it for work and Gmail runs so slow she can't get any work done. i had to uninstall it and will have to purchase ANOTHER software product to protect her computer bc of poor performace of bit defender.

Constant problems, horrible tech support - a waste of money.

I have had nothing but problems with this product since I first tried to download it. I had to remove it and download it again and it has never worked easily. When I have a critical issue, and I click on FIX - it gets hung up and I have to reboot. It slows down my computer and the customer support is IMPOSSIBLE. You can't find it on the help page - there is not logical path to get to it. The help page is confusing and aggravating. If you finally figure out how to send an email by clicking on a link that brings up your personal email, you will get an email back saying that they will not respond to it. If you find the embedded email that works, you are lucky. They will respond in a day or two. I once found the link for live chat support but was never able to find it again. There are no phone numbers to call. I regret this purchase - BIG TIME. Save yourself a headache and get AVAST or another product for free. I will never buy this product again. The 2008 version was okay, but this is a nightmare.

I have had problems for the 4 months since install. Chat support is worthless. You cannot connect to phone support in India or Phillipines or some 3rd world country. I cannot even connect to my home internet connection. Who said this program is ****?

My worst security software experience EVER! I would recommend this program to no one. Beware. Run for the hills. Keep in mind I never post anything on the web. I have had such a poor experience I had to share. I see that I am not the only one that hates it since I googled "bitdefender problems".
