  Version: BitDefender Online Scanner

  "Be very cautious! Deletes files without warning."

  Pros: I'm certain this is a good scanner. Bitdefender is a well known and well respected company.

  Cons: 1. Uses ActiveX and requires Internet Explorer. I'd much rather have a regular small download. I don't like ActiveX.

  2. If it identifies files it believes are infected, it will delete them without warning. I found at least two files that it identified as infected that were actually not malware. This is not acceptable to me or most people I know.

  "Breaks other SW installations if you're not careful."

  Pros: Free is good. I probably could have set the scan options to "nondestructive."

  Cons: Default second option is to delete identified risks. This damaged an installation of Iolo Search and Recover (Advanced Deleted File Search option failed because of removed streamserver.exe). Don't know what else is broken.

  Summary: Free, but be careful.
